Mercer County, NJ – Younity (formerly Womanspace) has announced its 30th Annual Awards Dinner, scheduled for May 28, 2026, at Trenton Country Club. The milestone event will bring together community leaders, partners, and supporters to honor individuals whose work advances safety, dignity, and justice for those impacted by domestic and sexual violence.
This year, Younity will present the Barbara Boggs Sigmund Award to Amna Nawaz, co-anchor and co-managing editor of PBS News Hour. The award is named in honor of Barbara Boggs Sigmund, founder of Younity, whose leadership helped bring the issue of domestic violence out of silence and into public awareness.
Amna Nawaz is being recognized for journalism that closely aligns with the values at the heart of the Barbara Boggs Sigmund Award. Throughout her career, she has reported extensively on domestic and intimate partner violence, the criminalization of survivors, and systemic failures that place victims at further risk. Her work has examined how survivors, particularly women, can become entangled in the criminal legal system, how institutional barriers prevent reporting and accountability, and how public policy decisions affect safety and justice for those experiencing abuse.
“Barbara Boggs Sigmund believed deeply that protecting those most vulnerable to abuse is a shared community responsibility,” said Nathalie S. Nelson, CEO and President of Younity. “Amna Nawaz’s reporting reflects that same belief—bringing visibility to lived experience, holding systems accountable, and helping communities better understand the realities of domestic and sexual violence.”
In addition to the Barbara Boggs Sigmund Award, Younity’s Annual Awards Dinner will also recognize an outstanding community partner and an outstanding volunteer for their service and commitment to Younity’s mission.
