A message from Mayor Palmer to Trenton youth and their families:

I am pleased to announce the 1998 edition of the YO! Directory of Youth Opportunities. The new edition is better and more exciting than ever, with over 170 program entries representing 70 organizations serving Trenton youth. Many new sections have been added to make the YO! Directory more useful and appealing: a complete list of schools, day care centers and social service organizations; special resources such as emergency hotline numbers, websites and local health care facilities. Tidbits of information highlighting Trenton's rich culture and history are scattered throughout the YO! Directory. They compliment the traditional list of helping services to create a comprehensive resource guide for young children and teens, their parents and other concerned community members.

Please join me in thanking the volunteers who worked very hard to create a useful directory of resources to enrich the lives of Trenton youth. My special thanks to the talented researcher and editor of YO! Directory, Mea Kaemmerlen, for her leadership and expertise. We could not have published this directory without her. Also, we owe a debt of gratitude to three generous donors who are covering printing costs for 10,000 copies of the YO! Directory: Educational Testing Services, Mercer County Youth Services Commission and an anonymous donor.

I hope every child and family will take advantage of the programs and resources featured in the YO! Directory. Reading through the book, I am impressed by the wealth of resources available to our youth right here in the Trenton community. Many organizations in the greater Trenton area also have demonstrated their support for our youth and I thank them. I am proud of each person who has committed time and support to help prepare our children to become tomorrow's parents and leaders.

Most Importantly, I truly value the talents and contributions of each your person. You are helping to make our city great!

Sincerely,

Douglas H. Palmer
Mayor
