Now that Fall has slipped into an easier rhythm, let’s take note on a few fairly new places of interest in our area. Because our tummies need NEW NOW, let's start with FOOD!
A local native, Joey Trani, opened not one BUT two Italian restaurants in Hopewell Township. Basilico Trattoria in Hopewell @9B East Broad Street – formerly The Bell & Whistle and SweetGrass – serves fresh, unassuming, conventional, local italian food for dinner – BYOB. Joey’s second place in Pennington @20 North Main Street – Basilico Paninoteca – is a coffee and sandwich shop (10-3pm) serving soups, subs and paninis – all fresh ingredients – cappuccinos, muffins, cookies - Jon Bon Jovi stopped in and gave it 2 thumbs up!
The brand new Ferry Market on Main Street in New Hope, PA offers fresh seasonal produce in addition to healthy and flavorful prepared foods from a collection of local vendors (https://www.theferrymarket.com/vendors) - think Stockton Market over the river. Added perks - riverside views, an incredibly transformed building, and available customer parking in a highly desirable shopping and destination community. Open 7-7, Wed-Sunday.
Closer to home in Lawrenceville, Lawrenceville Provisions @9 Gordon Avenue is a gem of a spot. They work hard to source the best in groceries and dry goods – artisan cheeses, free-range chickens, chocolate, cookbooks, kitchen gadgets, and gifts. The perfect, “must-do” stop for the discerning shopper.
The hottest sushi spot right now is up 206 in Skillman. Remember Tusk? That's history and it's replacement is Aja Asian Cuisine & Lounge - a beautifully designed restaurant with sushi bar, banquet seating, bar, and private dining facilities. Don't let the large space throw you off - the food is GOOD, the prices are MODERATE, and the setting is STUNNING.
What do we have to look forward to?
The group that has been upping the dining game in Princeton with Agricola, The Dinky Bar & Kitchen, and most recently Cargot Brasserie, will open TWO SEVENS Eatery & Cantina @277 Witherspoon Street - a local spot with a Latin kick. More importantly it will have a BAR and wait for it, PARKING. Thank you Fenwick Hospitality Group.
The Blue Point Grill is growing UP - yes, a rooftop addition is in the works. Also, in case you've been living under a rock - Monday night is SUSHI night - heavenly rolls and more!
Word on the "eats" streets is that the NJShore fave Surf Taco is coming to the Princeton Shopping Center - will keep you posted . . .
