New Yorker cartoonist Tom Toro is just out with his new book of cartoons, And To Think We Started as a Book Club... (Andrews McMeel, $19.95).
This debut collection has already received praise by some top-notch people, like Hannah Gadsby, Seth MacFarlane, Esther Perel, Fred Armisen, and many others. Tom will be in Princeton on his book tour, hosting an event at the Princeton Public Library on Sunday, December 7 at 11:00 am.
Tom's most famous cartoon achieved meme-status: a small group sitting around a fire in a cave painted with the faded skyline of a city, as one explains, "Yes, the planet got destroyed. But for a short moment in time we created a lot of value for shareholders." Tom's work appears regularly in the New Yorker, though getting that first cartoon accepted took more than 600 attempts! In Tom's mind, the cartoons on the pages of the New Yorker are like notes passed to a friend during class, reminding us there is joy in the world and that we are all human.
