10 Things on Our Bucket List This Fall

While the weather is still warm, fall is just around the corner and we've got a list to keep you busy with autumn fun. 

Apple Picking at Terhune Orchards

U-Pick apples has begun at Terhune's 13 VanKirk Rd location around the corner from the main farm. Varieties include Gala, Early Fuji, McIntosh and Honeycrisp. Grab varieties to use in fall baking, making your own appleasauce, make homemade caramel apples or enjoy by themselves!

Fall Farmers Markets

Many of our local farmers markets run through the fall. Princeton Farmers Market runs Thursdays from 10AM-2PM with their last day being November 18th.  West Windsor Farmers Market is on Saturdays from 9AM-1PM through Thanksgiving. Enjoy the markets’ fresh abundance of fall crops and offerings. Be sure to make a list of fall treats to make at home, like a delicious pie made with bounty from the market.

Giant Rummage Sale

Save the date for the famous Annual Giant Rummage Sale at Hopewell Presbyterian Sept 16 - 18. You can find gently used housewares, china, furniture, linens, jewelry, clothes, small appliances, books, toys, seasonal and much more. They are taking donations. Drop off donations at the church beginning at 3pm Sun., Sept. 12 through noon on Weds., Sept. 15.. Proceeds from the sale are used to support local and worldwide mission projects.

Fall Leaves

Watch the leaves begin to change fiery colors as you get in the fall spirit. Pictureque scenes can be watched at area spots like Grounds for Sculpture, Sayen Gardens and Princeton University.

Princeton Tigers Football

Princeton Athletics now is permitting fans to events during the 2021-22 seasons. There are Covid-19 policies in place, but fans should get ready to cheer for the Tigers and listen to the band. You can find ticketing info here.

Fall Flavors

Pop in one of the many coffee shops in town and skim the menu for new fall additions. Area restaurants are also having fall flavors on their menu. Terhune Orchards’ is busy churning their famous apple cider and is a must for the fall season.

Send some love

Maybe you still haven’t gotten together with loved ones because of the pandemic. Send someone you love - whether a family member or new college student -  a special care package from LiLLiPiES. Offering include sweet surprises sent via mail like: Coffee n’ Pancakes, Hot Chocolate, Hand over the Chocolate and more.

Halloween in Princeton

Save the date for the Art Council of Princeton’s Hometown Halloween Parade on Friday, October 29 at 5:15PM. Dress up in your best costume as they depart to make your way through Downtown Princeton. The parade will culminate at the Princeton Family YMCA where the festivities continue with music, trunk or treat, and more!

Fall gardening

Swing by one of our area nurseries to find fall delights to spruce up your yard. Bountiful Gardens and Peterson’s Nursery have a variety of offerings, along with Terhune Orchards. Now is also the time to plant cold weather crops in your vegetable garden like lettuces, broccoli and cauliflower.

Head into the Wilderness

Before it gets too chilly, grab your calendar and make it a weekend to explore nature. Whether camping, “clamping” or renting a cabin, enjoy what the mountains have to offer. Enjoy the changing leaves, the crisp air and a little bonfire.
