PRINCETON, NJ, January 24, 2011 – Eleven students from Stuart Country Day School of the Sacred Heart received awards at Princeton University’s ninth annual Martin Luther King Day Celebration on January 16, 2012. A total of 16 awards were given this year.
In conjunction with the Celebration, the University holds literary, visual arts and video contests for students in New Jersey grades 4 through 12. This year students were asked to focus on the importance of a quality education and its impact on personal success. Contestants were asked to consider the persistent inequities in educational access or achievement and propose solutions. The contest winners were recognized at a ceremony in Princeton’s Richardson Hall on Monday, January 16, 2012.
“We are so very proud of the hard work and effort all of our Stuart students put into their projects with this challenge. We are especially pleased that the perseverance and commitment to excellence of Stuart students at all grade levels has been recognized by the University’s Martin Luther King Celebration Committee,” said Dr. Patty Fagin, Head of School at Stuart. “The legacy of Dr. King truly resonates with our Sacred Heart commitment to educate our girls to a strong sense of community and a lifetime dedication to learning and service.”
