Chapin School’s 35th Annual Runathon Raises $30,000 for The Crisis Ministry of Princeton and Trenton

Chapin School’s 35th annual all-day Runathon drew over 375 participants from the school’s community who covered a total of 2,763 miles to raise over $30,000. The benefiting charity selected this year by Chapin’s Student Council is The Crisis Ministry of Princeton and Trenton, as well as Chapin’s Endowment for Financial Aid.

“Chapin has been running for a cause since 1976-77, when teacher and cross country coach Steve Gingo organized the very first event,” said Richard Johnson, headmaster of Chapin School. “I am very proud of the Chapin community for their continued support and passion of the Runathon.”

A check for half of the proceeds was presented to Carolyn Biondi, Interim Executive Director of the Crisis Ministry, by several of the students at a recent ceremony.  “This is such a tremendous act of generosity on the part of Chapin School students and the families and friends who sponsored them,” said Biondi. “The support will help many households in Mercer County to put food on the table and to remain in their homes during times of financial hardship.”
