Now in its sixth year, From Our Grounds to Yours, Grounds For Sculpture’s annual plant sale, will feature a unique selection of annuals, perennials, and shrubs, as well as a variety of GFS propagated trees, houseplants, and succulent gardens. Our Director of Horticulture, Horticulture staff and volunteers will be on hand during the sale to answer questions and share garden-planning advice. All proceeds support GFS’s Horticulture department. This event is rain or shine. Don’t forget to bring your wagon! We will feature a demonstration on container gardening by the Horticulture staff at 12:30PM. The plant sale takes place on Saturday, May 3 and Sunday, May 4.

Friends of the Lawrence Library May Book Sale —Shop the Friends of the Lawrence Library May Book Sale for thousands of used, gently-read books for readers of all ages. The sale opens to the general public on Friday, May 16, at 10:00 am and ends Monday, May 19 at 2:00 pm at the Lawrence Headquarters Branch of the Mercer County Library System, 2751 Brunswick Pike, Lawrenceville, New Jersey. Payment by cash, check or Zelle only. A special Early Admission event will be held on Thursday, May 15 from 1:00 - 4:00 pm where the public will have the first chance to get some amazing deals. Entry to the Early Admission is free for current members of the Friends of the Lawrence Library, $5 for the general public, and $20 for patrons with scanning apps or devices. This event is the only time scanning will be permitted.

YWCA Princeton, in collaboration with the Princeton Human Services Department, is hosting a Community Yard Saleon Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the YMCA–YWCA field located at 59 Paul Robeson Place in Princeton, NJ. The event is open to all and aims to promote sustainability and economic accessibility by offering affordable goods such as clothing, household items, toys, and more. Vendors are encouraged to participate, especially those with children's clothing, to support families preparing for the back-to-school season. In case of inclement weather, the rain date is scheduled for Sunday, May 18. We will also offer an open house of our childcare center during the same timeframe.

Mercer County Announces 2025 Senior Citizen Art Show
County Executive Dan Benson invites seniors throughout Mercer County to submit artwork to the 2025 Mercer County Senior Citizen Art Show (MCSAS), to be held this summer. Applicants may submit one piece of art in any of the following 11 categories: acrylic, craft, digital art, mixed media, oil, pastel, photography, print, sculpture, watercolor, and works on paper. All submissions must be the original work created within the last three years and not previously entered in a Mercer County Senior Citizen Art Show or the New Jersey Senior Citizen Art Show (NJSAS).
The registration deadline is June 13. Artists may register by completing an online registration form at shorturl.at/G4IuP or by filling out a print registration form, which can be printed from shorturl.at/dDMJ5, and mailing it to the Mercer County Division of Culture & Heritage – 640 South Broad Street Trenton, NJ 08611 – RM 417. Artists must drop off their registered artwork at the Conference Center at Mercer on June 25 between 9-2pm.

We're thrilled to announce the official launch of our 10th annual Perspectives on Preservation photo contest.
Grab your camera (or iPhone) and come explore the beauty of the Mountain Lakes Preserve. You can start submitting photos now, until October 12th. We can’t wait to see the natural wonders you discover! Each year, photo entries showcase the diverse forms of beauty photographers find in and around the Billy Johnson Mountain Lakes Nature Preserve. The contest builds awareness of the Preserve's role in protecting biodiversity and enhancing the quality of life in the Princeton community.
Photos for submission can be taken at any time of year during the past three years as long as they have not been submitted in a previous FOPOS photo contest. 
Entries must be submitted by midnight on Sunday, October 12, 2025.

5/3 & 5/4 - Kite Day, Terhune Orchards, 10-5pm. Bring your own kite or choose a ready-made kite from the wide selection in the store. Or better yet, make your own “guaranteed to fly” kite. Whichever you choose, test fly your kite in our wide-open 10-acre pasture with all the farm animals looking on. The farm will ring with country music and entertainment all weekend. The sheep will be shorn on Sunday and children can take home a piece of real fleece. On Saturday, the Princeton Morris Dancers will perform traditional May Day dances. 5/3 - Washington Crossing Brewfest 2025, 12:30-4:30pm., Attend the first, and best, beer festival of the season in Bucks County, PA! Taking place at Washington Crossing Historic Park for its 14th year, Brewfest is on Saturday, May 3, 2025 from 12:30 to 4:30 PM. The event features sampling of beers from local, regional, and national breweries as well as live music, mouthwatering food vendors, and a beautiful, wooded setting overlooking the Delaware River (behind the Thompson-Neely House). It will be two times the beauty and two times the excitement when Voices Chorale NJ presents "Requiem x 2". The concert will showcase two powerful musical settings of the requiem mass: the monumental Mozart Requiem, left incomplete by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in 1791; and the Requiem by Brazilian composer José Maurício Nunes Garcia, completed in 1816 and inspired by familiarity with Mozart's masterpiece. 5/16 - Ensemble Sangineto, Princeton Folk Music Society, 8pm., The Princeton Folk Music Society presents an exciting mix of the old and the new with Ensemble Sangineto, an eclectic trio from northern Italy that skillfully blends ancient harmonies and sonorities with modern rhythms. The wide-ranging musical experiences of the individual members converge to create fresh and sparkling arrangements of traditional Celtic and Italian tunes, as well original compositions that reflect diverse influences, including classical, folk, pop, and Gregorian Chant. The trio blends the pure and magic tones of the harp, bowed psaltery, and guitar with their vocal harmonies to evoke a dreamlike, light, and joyful atmosphere.

5/17 – Desi Day @Princeton Public Library, 1-4pm., A daylong celebration of "Desi" culture with a special story-time, an author panel, and a culture fair that shares South Asian culture with the community. Presented in partnership with Central Desi. The word "Desi" is derived from the Sanskrit word "de?a," which translates to "country" or "land." It is also a term used to describe the peoples, cultures, and products of the Indian subcontinent and their diaspora. This daylong celebration of Desi culture is preceded by a film screening on May 16, and includes a story-time, author panel, interactive culture fair and performances on May 17.

5/24 - History/Nature Hike at Institute Woods, Historical Society of Princeton, 4-6pm., Join us on a hike through the treasured Institute Woods to explore bits of history, as well as the sites and sounds that form this unique and serene setting. Hear stories about the Woods’ origin and the ways IAS mathematicians, physicists, and other members have engaged with it. Stops along the way will highlight the history of early Stony Brook, the Battle of Princeton, the Old Trolley trail, the establishment of the Institute for Advanced Study, and Founders Rock. We will make a special stop at the infamous Swinging Bridge, then hike over to the observation decks at the adjacent Rogers Wildlife Refuge. Along the way, there will be moments to observe, engage, and identify the different varieties of birds, plants, trees, and everything in between! Please note: This is a moderate to advanced hike.
