Capitol Debate Summer Camps teach the fundamentals of public speaking and argumentation, enabling kids to develop core presentation and debating skills that boost confidence and self-esteem. Our debate camps teach students to structure arguments, prepare debate cases, research evidence, write rebuttal briefs, deliver speeches and refute opponent arguments. Capitol Debate's goal is to enrich the social, intellectual, and academic lives of our students through the art of communication. Since 2006, our academic camps have grown to serve thousands of students and are now hosted across the United States on over 15 campuses.

The Bravura Philharmonic Orchestra proudly presents pianist Sean Chen, bronze medalist of the highly prestigious Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. Youth in grades K-12 are invited to submit original art or poetry for “See the Trees,” an exhibit in association with the Princeton Environmental Film Festival. 9th Annual HiTOPS Trans Youth Forum is on Saturday, March 25th - This day-long celebration created BY and FOR trans and nonbinary youth will be held virtually and is FREE to all participants. Literacy New Jersey Online High School Diploma Classes
Literacy NJ Mercer is offering free GED (HSE) Classes starting April 3, 2023, for 18 years and older Mercer County residents. These free classes will be held online on Zoom. Classes will run for two hours once a week and cover reading, writing, and math materials found on the Hi-Set exam (a high school equivalency or HSE exam to earn an HSE diploma). Math classes are on Monday mornings from 10:30 am - 12:30 pm and Reading & Writing on Thursday evenings from 6:00 - 8:00 pm.

HomeFront’s Diaper Challenge 2023
From now until May 15th, we will be collecting diapers for the children under our care. HomeFront is proud to have been able to give out 1.4 million diapers last year, but the need is growing. We need the community’s assistance in keeping up with the demand for diaper assistance. One in three families in the US struggle to have clean diapers for their babies. 3/4 – 7th Annual PNRA/Mercer Row for the Cure, 8-2:30pm., The event will be held in person at the Ian H. Graham '50 Athletic Center at The Peddie School. For anyone who would like to participate virtually, you may submit a screenshot of your 2K (or 500 meters if in the coxswain or middle school event) by 9:30 am on March 4 to Hilary Gehman. Winners of each event will receive a pink hammer. There must be at least 3 competitors in an event in order for a hammer to be awarded.Proceeds from the event will go to the YWCA Princeton's Breast Cancer Resource Center. Lunch service is back this year and will be available for purchase by shoppers and exhibitors. 3/5 - Pruning Demonstration with Gary Mount, 1pm. Terhune Orchards Gary Mount, owner of Terhune Orchards, is offering a free pruning class in his orchards. He will explain how he prunes and answer questions right out in the orchards. He will also discuss new varieties of fruit trees suitable for planting by the homeowner and the difference between various rootstocks. The class will be held rain or shine. Terhune Orchards’ own cider and donuts will be served as refreshments.

Women’s stories are often more difficult to find in the historical record, or their identities are hidden behind their husband’s names. This program brings to light the contributions of some of the diverse and influential women in Princeton’s history, including immigrants, enslaved women, working women, and community leaders. 3/10 - St. Patrick's Day Celebration, D&R Greenway & Voices Chorale NJ, 3-6pm., In celebration of D&R Greenway Land Trust's work to preserve the green in our local communities, Voices Chorale NJ is bringing Irish music and dancing to a benefit for both organizations just in time for St. Patrick's Day. The event will take place in a restored barn at D&R Greenway's Johnson Education Center, One Preservation Place, Princeton. Storyteller Ron O'Reilly will be on hand to share his Irish tales, The Kotelnicki School of Irish Dance from Hamilton will perform and teach Irish line dancing. Local musicians Bronwyn Bird and Justin Nawn from The Birdhouse Center for the Arts in Lambertville will entertain us with traditional Celtic. 3/19 - Dotty Westgate and Friends, 4pm., Java Jam coffeehouse at Princeton Makes, the artist cooperative, Princeton Shopping Center - Dotty Is a performer, pianist, singer, teacher, choir director, arranger, and a Westminster choir college graduate. For this performance she will play keyboard and sing songs from the 20's and 30's with other area musicians who play in the New Orleans Dixieland tradition.

3/21 – Steamboats on the Upper Delaware River, Delaware River Greenway Partnership, 7pm., The Upper Delaware River, extending from Market Street, Philadelphia, to the head of navigation at Trenton, once hosted a lively steamboat trade beginning with John Fitch’s experimental boats. Paul Schopp’s presentation will briefly cover the history of steamboats on this section of the river and then take viewers on an imaginary excursion up the Delaware from Philadelphia using rare postcard images and artwork, advertising, and period photographs. Learn about some of the ferry services offered to the traveling public as well as examine steam traffic on tributaries like the Pennsauken and Rancocas creeks.
