VACCINE UPDATE: Additional Doses, Expanded Eligibility
Today Governor Phil Murphy announced that NJ will receive approximately 70,000 doses of the recently-approved Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine this week. In addition, more frontline and essential workers will be eligible to receive the vaccine on March 15 and again on March 29. In order to receive your vaccine, you must first register into the state system through NJVSS at covidvaccine.nj.gov/. Princeton residents are encouraged to continue utilizing individual portals such as CVS, RiteAid and ShopRite to make vaccine appointments, as well as other NJ COVID-19 vaccine locations.

Volunteers Needed: Vaccine Navigators
The Princeton Senior Resource Center is seeking volunteers to assist older adults in navigating the complex online scheduling process to secure vaccine appointments. In addition, volunteers are needed to support county vaccination efforts by working the registration table at the CURE Arena mega-site in Trenton. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Carla Servin at (609) 751-9699, ext. 118 or email vaccine@princetonsenior.org. All volunteers with PSRC are asked to complete a streamlined application and criminal background check.

Suppers Programs Announces Virtual Breakfast Challenge Workshop March 7 -17 - The Suppers Programs is pleased to announce that registration is open for its Breakfast Challenge, a 10-day interactive workshop designed to provide guidance, education and support for people as they plan their first meal of the day.
The Breakfast Challenge includes daily emails with useful information on eating for your health, easy and delicious recipes that are simple to make with a detailed shopping list, tips and techniques to keep motivated, and regular Zoom check-ins along with daily logs to gather data and track key markers. Application is Now Open for From the Fire Online Academy for Black Teenage Boys – Deadline May 31
Uplifting the black male's education and value in the African-American community are more important now than ever. From the Fire will nurture scholars by providing them a transformative educational experience through instruction, mentoring, and coaching from seasoned teachers and influencers culminating in an exceptional Rites of Passage program. Formerly held at Princeton University, the celebrated From the Fire Leadership Academy for high school male students of color is now online and accepting applications for its three summer programs. www.fromthefireacademy.org/

The 7th Annual HiTOPS Trans Youth Forum, a day-long celebration created BY and FOR trans and nonbinary youth, is happening on March 27th! This year the Forum is virtual and FREE to all participants. We anticipate this year's forum will be attended by hundreds of young people, their families, and the professionals who support them. The 2021 Forum includes nationally celebrated speakers, video highlights of trans and nonbinary youth, and a raffle. www.njtyf.org/

Meals on Wheels of Mercer Countywill be participating in the 19th Annual March for Meals – a month-long, nationwide celebration of Meal on Wheels and our senior neighbors who rely on this essential service to remain healthy and independent at home, now even more so amid the COVID-19 pandemic. 3/6 – Free Rabies Clinic, 9-12pm., The Princeton Fire Department is hosting a Rabies Clinic for cats and dogs at the station, located at 363 Witherspoon Street. This clinic is free for residents of New Jersey. All dogs must be on a leash no longer than six feet and all cats must be in a carrier. In addition, all people must wear a mask and maintain social distance. Email Princeton Animal Control with any questions at animalcontrol@princetonnj.gov.

3/6 – LOVE Your Park Day (Rescheduled), Friends of Princeton Open Space, 9-4pm., We'd love you to join us! Volunteer stewards will work outdoors under the guidance of our Natural Resource Manager using pruners, loppers, and hand saws to remove invasive vines and shrubs from the woodland habitat that borders the park entrance. Your work will help to ensure a future forest canopy, provide native habitat for wildlife, and enhance the educational and aesthetic experience for visitors of the preserve. 3/7 – Maple Sugaring, Nature Center at Washington Crossing State Park. 1:30-3pm. 609-737-0609. This event is a participatory demonstration in the procedures of home maple sugar production. Advanced registration required. Nature Center at Washington Crossing State Park in Titusville, New Jersey. Programs this winter are offered free of charge. All programs will require advanced registration so that we can manage social distancing. Face coverings are required at all these events. Attendance is limited and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Additional dates: 3/13, 3/14, 3/21.

3/7 - Virtual Concert – The Princeton Symphony Orchestra, 4pm. PSO presents a recording of live performances of Respighi's Ancient Airs and Dances, Suite III and Puccini's I Crisantemi, conducted by Rossen Milanov. In times like these, we all need the medicinal qualities of a good laugh! We will host "Rx: Laughter," a virtual gala and auction benefiting the arts and education programs of the West Windsor Arts Council. WWAC board member Andrew Morris will keep the event lively and engaging as our dynamic MC!

3/27 – Trenton Circus Squad’s “Get On Down” Fundraiser, 7pm., The annual fundraiser presented by Trenton Circus Squad will feature an all-Squad virtual performance to raise money for our general operating costs. Before COVID-19, Trenton Circus Squad hosted over 200 workshops and 12 performances at the Roebling Wire Works building each year, entertaining over 2,000 local children and families.
