12th Annual Princeton Environmental Film Festival April 8 - 15 - This year's schedule features incredible films paired with fascinating filmmakers and other invited speakers, along with creative and spirited complementary events. Highlights include: an opening night celebration in the Community Room from 5-6 p.m. on April 9; Beyond Fordlandia at Princeton University's Friend Center on April 10; Wasted! The Story of Food Waste at the Hopewell Theater on April 13; and Albatross on April 14, also at Friend. All events are free and open to the public. Full schedule

 

 

Call for Submissions for ‘Mercer County Artists 2018’ - Calling local artists! Visual artists ages 18 or older who live, work, or attend school in Mercer County are invited to submit art for consideration for the “Mercer County Artists 2018” exhibition at The Gallery at Mercer County Community College (MCCC). Jurying takes place on Saturday, May 12, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Artists may enter up to two original works completed since March 2016 in any media except photography. (This year, the gallery is also providing early drop-off on Thursday, May 10, noon to 3 p.m.) Judging and pick-up of unaccepted works take place May 12. An entry fee of $10 for one piece or $15 for two must accompany the entries. www.mccc.edu/gallery

 

 

Summer Employment Opportunities for Princeton Youth - Princeton Human Services is opening up the application process for their annual Summer Youth Employment Program. In 2017, SYEP provided jobs to nearly 40 students in municipal departments and local non-profit organizations which included job readiness training, financial coaching and career development. Participants must live in Princeton or attend Princeton High School, must be between the ages of 14 -18 as of July 5th, 2018, and their family income must not exceed 400% of the 2017 US federal poverty level. Participants work 25 hours a week and earn minimum wage ($8.60/hr) for 8 weeks during the summer. Applications are available at the Princeton Human Services office in Monument Hall and at http://www.accessprincetonnj.gov/. The application deadline is Friday, May 4th, 2018.
