Join FoHVOS Land Steward Beth Craighead for a Backyard Bird Count - an easy hike to observe birds in our area and help researchers better understand how to help our feathered friends! It is open to people of all interests and skill levels. The hike will take place on Sunday, February 18 from 9 - 12 p.m. at the FoHVOS Thompson Preserve- see our website at www.fohvos.org for directions. The Great Backyard Bird Count is an international citizen science event that helps researchers at the National Audubon Society and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology obtain information about bird populations. With the help of citizens around the world, these researchers can create a global snapshot of bird populations and use this information to better protect our world's birds and their habitats. Mercer County Wildlife Center Seeks Volunteer Support - The Mercer County Wildlife Center, which accepted and treated more than 2,400 birds, mammals and reptiles in 2017, will be holding orientations for new volunteers at the facility in Hopewell Township. New animals are constantly arriving. Volunteer orientation sessions for 2018 are scheduled for 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 17, and 10 a.m. to noon Sunday, March 25, at the Wildlife Center. Those who are interested are required to attend only one of the two sessions for this unique opportunity. more info

 

 

New Volunteer Opportunity at The Watershed - Join us as a Guardian of the Trail. These volunteers help keep our trails safe and free of debris for all to enjoy. They walk their trail once a month to alert the Watershed staff to any downed branches or other issues on the trail, and pick up litter. The Guardians help inform us about trail conditions and other tasks that require attention. Contact Volunteer Coordinator Eve Niedergang for information about becoming a Guardian of the Trail or assisting in other ways at the Watershed. thewatershed.org

Princeton Pro Musica Presents Monteverdi's Vespers

The Princeton Pro Musica 100+-member chorus and orchestra, led by Ryan James Brandau, will be joined by the Princeton High School Choir, the Bridgewater High School Choir, and the Westminster Kantorei in the performance of this choral masterwork. The grandeur of multiple choirs, the beauty of the solo voice, and the splendor of the early Baroque orchestra will combine in the magnificent space of the Princeton University Chapel.
