Washington's and Rochambeau's Armies in Trenton, 1781, Trent House Museum

The Trent House Association will hold its fifth annual commemoration of the days in late August/early September 1781 when thousands of soldiers and support personnel camped in and around Trenton. This free program of activities and talks is on Saturday, August 24, 2023, from 10 am to 4 pm on the Trent House Museum grounds at 15 Market Street, Trenton, across from the Hughes Justice Complex. Free parking is available at the rear of the Museum property.

Imagine the impact of the army's presence on Trenton and how members of the army might have interacted with townspeople. On Saturday, August 23rd, visit the 5th annual re-enactment of the encampment at the Trent House. This family-friendly event includes activities for school-age children including a "scavenger hunt" with prizes, as well as talks by historians.

Fonthill Castle Beer Fest

Art Opening, Trenton Free Public Library

The Trenton Artists Workshop Association (TAWA) and the Trenton Free Public Library will present "Recent Works byThomas Kelly" at the Trenton Free Public Library from August 23rd – October 11th. An opening reception is set for Saturday, August 23rd, from 2 to 4 p.m.

Thomas Kelly is an award winning, New Jersey based painter. Widely collected, his work has a signature style, which has its roots in Expressionism. His colorful, narrative, acrylic paintings on canvas often create a dialogue with the viewer. His deceptively simplistic paintings are both critically acclaimed and very approachable by everyday viewers. More than 350 of Kelly's original paintings have been collected. Kelly has exhibited in New Jersey, New York City, Philadelphia and Bethlehem PA. His work is in private and public collections in the US, Europe and Asia.
