Open House, The Bridge Academy

The Bridge Academy is a 501c3 not for profit specialized school for students with language-based learning disabilities, like dyslexia, auditory processing disorder, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, and attention deficit disorder.

Open Houses are held monthly for parents and professionals who wish to obtain more information regarding The Bridge Academy for a possible placement or referral for a child. Information will be presented regarding The Bridge Academy curriculum, the admissions process, a tour of the school, as well as the opportunity to ask questions.

Preschool Nature Class: Leaves are Falling, The Watershed Institute

Leaves are falling all around the Watershed Center: come join us for a fun morning filled with foliage! Classes generally include a craft, hike, and activity for the week’s theme. We spend time outdoors each week, so come dressed in layers and waterproof shoes.

This program is intended for children ages 3-5. Younger siblings are welcome to attend with a parent, but we ask that they do not participate in activities.  Adult attendance and preregistration required- walk ins will not be allowed

Music of the West African kora comes to Princeton Junction! Sean Gaskell features songs on the kora, a 21-stringed West African harp. He studied under the extensive instruction of Moriba Kuyateh and the late Malamini Jobarteh in Gambia, and both Youssoupha Cissokho and Mamadou Cissokho in Senegal. The kora is traditionally played by oral historians known as Griots. Many songs featured on the kora preserve an 800-year history dating back to the founding of the Mande empire. Gaskell has presented adult, youth and family programs at over 350 libraries and a multitude of K-12 schools, colleges, universities, and assisted living facilities throughout the United States and Canada. The Althea Ward Clark Reading Series: A Reading by Aracelis Girmay and Kaveh Akbar

Kaveh Akbar's poems appear in The New Yorker, The New York Times, The Paris Review, The Best American Poetry, and elsewhere. He is the author of two poetry collections: "Pilgrim Bell" and "Calling a Wolf a Wolf", in addition to a chapbook, "Portrait of the Alcoholic." Aracelis Girmay is the author of three books of poems: "the black maria," "Teeth," and "Kingdom Animalia."
