PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE:

Dear Sisters,

REMEMBER TO VOTE ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 4TH.

               * * * * * * * * * * * *

Our scholarship fundraiser luncheon on Sept. 14th at the Cranbury Inn was a success, thanks to you our members, friends, and especially friends of Walter and Niambi.  We can't thank everyone enough for their support.

I'm sure everyone agreed that Walter and his daughter, Niambi, were most deserving of the recognition because they give their time and efforts so unselfishly to our community. We were more than happy to welcome their many friends.

To those who couldn't be there, but sent in donations towards our scholarship program, we send a special "thank you" for your generosity.  As a reminder, we give one or two scholarships to Hightstown High School graduating seniors every June, and up to three scholarships to women returning to college after some period of absence.  We couldn't do this without your support.

Special thanks to Ruth who worked side by side with me every week, in all capacities, to Lois who went "gift hunting" for our honorees,

to Shirley for running back and forth to the Post Office and dropping off the mail to my house; to Hattie, Illean and Louise for making follow-up phone calls.

Also special thanks to Liston for making our Program Booklet and all the changes necessary as we came closer to Sept. 14, being our photographer and also for maintaining our web-page; and to Marty for making our flier and helping to edit the Program Booklet.  A big "thank you" to everyone.

Please see the website to view photos taken on Sept. 14th.

We will tie up the loose ends regarding the fundraiser at our October meeting .

Please come to the October regular monthly meeting prepared to discuss and plan the remainder of this year and 2009.

Volunteers are needed to cover our table at the Hightstown Community Fair on Sat., Oct. 11 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.  Rain date Oct. 12.

Take care.

Joyce

TIPS for October, 2008

Measuring Cups - Before you pour sticky substances into a measuring cup, fill with hot water.  Dump out the hot water, but don't dry the cup.  Next, add your ingredient, such as peanut butter and watch how easily it comes right out.

Peppers with 3 bumps on the bottom are sweeter and better for eating.  Peppers with 4 bumps on the bottom are firmer and better for cooking.

PLEASE KEEP THE FOLLOWING INDIVIDUALS
