My dear sisters of CJNBW:
What a blessing to have achieved
2005! We have
much to be grateful for, and we should celebrate and share
our good fortune, both individually and collectively.
This month, we all thank Ruth for her
most gracious hosting of our holiday celebration at her
home. Thanks
again, Ruth. And
thank you Marty, Bahiru and George for being part of the
celebration!
CJNBW has always been a giving
sisterhood: members’
generous holiday gifts last month of personal care
products to the Crisis Ministries of Trenton is an example
of our willingness to give of ourselves and our bounty. Once again, this
year, we will provide financial support to high school and
college students.
However, we are being called on to
extend our generosity and commitment to education in a
different way this year. Walter Daniels |
|
is proposing that CJNBW become
involved in an effort to encourage African American
students at the Hightstown High School to reach for their
academic potential. Walt
will present his proposal to the members at a general
meeting in the near future, after further consultation
with one of the high school teachers who brought concerns
to his attention. This
initiative could allow CJNBW to move into a slightly new
direction as far as our academic financial support goes,
but one that I think will be exciting and worthwhile.
As a determined group of women, CJNBW
can continue to do so much good work, but we all have to
pull together. Let us make 2005, a most productive year. Come out to the
meetings and bring a friend to every meeting.
Best,
Noreen Lois |
