PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE:

Dear Sisters:

February is but one month when we officially celebrate our history, however, every effort should be made to make this an ongoing celebration every month of the year, and we do in so many ways.  It’s important to celebrate our past so that our children and future generations can be proud of their culture.  Our ancestors certainly didn’t make so many sacrifices in order for us to remember them just one month a year.

Please attend as many programs as possible and tell your friends.  There is always something new to learn.

We are pleased that Ms. Shirley Satterfield (a former guidance counselor at Hightstown High and Princeton High) has agreed to be

our guest speaker on Feb. 13.  Her topic, “The History of African Americans in Princeton,” promises to be an informative evening.  Many of the black families in Princeton have been residing there for 6 – 7 generations so there is a huge amount of history to be recalled.

Please remember to bring a friend or two to the Feb. 13 meeting.

Also, Happy Valentine’s Day and I wish you lots of beautiful roses.

Blessings,

Joyce

TIPS

Hint for February, 2007

Cleaning Microwave Oven:  To remove stains, clean up splattered food right after cooking so it won't stick.  But if it does, add 2 tablespoons of either baking soda or lemon juice into 1 cup of water in a 4-cup microwave safe bowl.  Allow the mixture to boil in the oven for about 5 minutes.  Let it set for 15 minutes to cool.  The steam will condense on the inside walls.  Then just wipe off the walls, inside of the door and don't forget the door seals.

PLEASE KEEP THE FOLLOWING INDIVIDUALS
 IN YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS:
We also send well wishes to  the following:  Louise's uncle, Kevin; Illean's brother, Bill;  Lorna's mother, and Ruth's sister, Laurel.

It is our intention to remember all who are ill, lost a loved one or congratulate members and their families when achievements are made. However, you must let Ruth know so mention can be made in the Newsletter.
