PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE:
Dear Sisters:

How fast time slips past us!  Where did 2006 go?  It just went so fast that my head is still spinning.  I can’t help but reflect on this past year.  I certainly hope you, your families, and friends, had an eventful year and met your goals, or at least most of them.  This year let’s pay closer attention to our health – eat properly and exercise, for without good health what have we got!!!

We had a successful  “Woman of the Year” luncheon, sponsored many guest speakers, gave scholarships to 2 graduating high school seniors and 5 women attending college.  Our “Tea” on Dec 2 at ETS Chauncey Conference Center was successful and I thank all the ladies who came out to enjoy a very relaxing and fun couple of hours.  We all thank Louise for her generosity in providing each of us with a batch of her delicious chocolate chip cookies.

Louise, you never cease to amaze us.  Again, thank you very much.

We are looking forward to our program for Feb.13. 2007 at which time Shirley Satterfield (our 2004 “Woman of the Year) will speak to us about the history of African Americans in Princeton.  There is quite a history and Shirley has a lot to tell us, as her family goes back many generations in the Princeton area. Start telling your family and friends to mark their calendars as we’d love to have them with us on Feb. 13.

I Look forward to working with everyone in 2007.

Have a happy, healthy, and successful New Year!

Blessings,

Joyce

TIPS

Hint for January, 2007

Kitchen Sink:  Getting rid of odors can be an ordeal.  Try these ideas:

The sink area may still smell because there’s a buildup of bacteria in the drain.  Pour a cup or so of bleach into the sink and allow it to sit for 20 minutes to kill bacteria that may be growing inside.  Run cold water for at least a minute to clear the drain.

Things to be Thankful For
  • For the shadow that watches you work because it means you are out in the sunshine.

  • For the taxes you pay because it means you are employed.

  • For the mess to clean after a party because it means you have been surrounded by friends.

  • For all the complaining we hear about the government because it means we have freedom of speech.

  • For the lady behind you in church who sings off key because it means you can hear.

PLEASE KEEP THE FOLLOWING INDIVIDUALS
 IN YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS:
We also send well wishes to  the following:  Louise's uncle, Kevin; Illean's brother, Bill;  Lorna's mother, and Ruth's sister, Laurel.

It is our intention to remember all who are ill, lost a loved one or congratulate members and their families when achievements are made. However, you must let Ruth know so mention can be made in the Newsletter.

OTHER COMMUNITY INFORMATION

Greater Goods Thrift Store

The Greater Goods Thrift Store has opened in their new location at 413 Mercer Street (Rt. 33), Hightstown, NJ (Lucas Electric building).

Greater Goods Thrift Store will sell high-quality donated clothing and household items. This project recycles community resources in a number of ways: by accepting donations (and reducing the waste of disposing of useable items), the thrift store will meet a critical need for affordable clothing, furniture, and household goods. Proceeds from all sales will fund family support programs and community partnerships that benefit families in the Hightstown-East Windsor area.
