PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE:

Dear Sisters:

March is “Women’s History Month” and last month (February) was “Women’s Heart Month”.  All of these activities, I feel, are telling us how important it is to take good care of our health.  We are so essential in the lives of our loved ones, as wives, signi-ficant others, mothers, sisters, grand-mothers, and business leaders and other professionals.  So, ladies, carve out some time each day for yourself to exercise, meditate, read, or do whatever it takes to relax.

Due to the snowstorm on February 13th, we had to postpone our meeting and Black History Month program about the life of African Americans in Princeton.  We will try

to reschedule the program with our guest speaker, Ms. Satterfield, who was also ill at the time.  We wish her a speedy recovery.

I’m looking forward to our “Open House” at the Hickory Corner Road Library on March 25th.  We will be awarding scholarships/ book awards to women who are attending college.  This event has been very successful over the years and we are proud of the women who have had the courage to return to school after being away from the educational environment for various reasons.

Blessings,

Joyce

TIPS for March, 2007

Lawn Chairs: To remove stains from white plastic chairs, use a solution of  ¾ cup of household bleach, and 1 tablespoon powdered or liquid laundry detergent, with 1 gallon warm water.  (Test solution on small  hidden area to make sure that plastic won’t discolor).  Wearing rubber gloves, scrub with a soft-bristled brush or sponge.  Leave mixture on chair for 5 to 15 minutes, then rinse well.

PLEASE KEEP THE FOLLOWING INDIVIDUALS
 IN YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS:

Greater Goods Thrift Store

The Greater Goods Thrift Store has opened in their new location at 413 Mercer Street (Rt. 33), Hightstown, NJ (Lucas Electric building).

Greater Goods Thrift Store will sell high-quality donated clothing and household items. This project recycles community resources in a number of ways: by accepting donations (and reducing the waste of disposing of useable items), the thrift store will meet a critical need for affordable clothing, furniture, and household goods. Proceeds from all sales will fund family support programs and community partnerships that benefit families in the Hightstown-East Windsor area.
