PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE:

Dear Sisters

ELECTION DAY has come and gone and we now have a new President-elect, Barack Obama.  How wonderful.  Now his real work begins and we should all keep him in our prayers as he certainly will need it to cope with the monumental tasks he now faces.  Let's hope that the people he chooses for his cabinet will support him thoroughly.  I hope the people in general don't expect him to solve these huge problems overnight.  Much good luck and success to the new President, effective January 20, 2009.  Anyone planning to go to D.C. to witness this great event?  Good luck!!

We wish the rest of the family, Michelle Obama and the girls, Malia and Sasha lots of luck, too, as they embark on a new life  style.  It will be good to see them enjoying the White House.

Have a great time at the "Tea" on Sat., Dec. 6 at the Cookie Cottage in Hamilton.  This is always a great time to relax and chat with friends.

I am very hopeful that everyone will have a Blessed Holiday Season in spite of the present economy.  This may be a good time to think and re-evaluate what is really important

Have a Happy, Healthy and Blessed Season.

Take care.

Joyce

TRANS FATTY ACIDS - are a type of unsaturated fat that is formed when liquid oils are changed to solids or semi-solids.  They behave like saturated fat and tend to increase total LDL (bad) cholesterol and may also decrease HDL (good) cholesterol.  Look for products that show zero (0 trans fats) stated on their label.  Exception - if label states 0 trans fats but you see partially hydrogenated oil or vegetable shortening listed in the ingredients on the label, the product may have a very small amount of trans fat.  If a product has 0.5 grams trans fats or less in 1 SERVING of the product, the company can claim 0 trans fats.  Limit a product like this to only 1 serving per day.

TIPS for November, 2008

Shower Doors (Glass):  To get rid of spots, wipe with a sponge dipped in white vinegar.

Range-Hood Filter:  If the filter can be removed and will fit, wash in the dishwasher.  If you have to wash the filter by hand, try an ammonia-based window cleaner or detergent specifically formulated to remove grease.  Apply the cleaner, let soak, rinse.  Repeat if necessary.

PLEASE KEEP THE FOLLOWING INDIVIDUALS
 IN YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS:

Our continued best wishes are sent to the following:  Louise's uncle; Kevin and Regina; Illean's brother, Bill and  Lorna's mother.

Please keep our own Louise in your prayers.

We are glad that Ruth is feeling better

and is getting around a bit more each day.  Keep well.

It is our intention to remember all who are ill, lost a loved one, and congratulate members and their families when achievements are made. However, you must let Lois know so mention can be made in the Newsletter.
