A McCarter World Premiere, thrillingly adapted from Lauren M. Gunderson’s acclaimed and award-winning worldwide hit, with an electrifying new score by Ari Afsar. See it here first. Caroline—stuck at home with an illness—and Anthony—an earnest overachiever toting Walt Whitman and waffle fries—are classmates pulling an unexpected all-nighter. What starts as a reluctant assignment soon sets both their worlds spinning into a soul-searching exploration of fate, friendship, and the fragile wonder of being alive. Gunderson’s award-winning play has been produced over 200 times and translated into fifteen languages, leaving audiences surprised, filled with hope, and proclaiming it a “must-see” theatrical experience for over a decade.

With over 1,000 photos by the legendary photography collective SEIS DEL SUR projected behind the orchestra in sync with the music, Multi-GRAMMY-nominated drummer, composer, arranger and Bronx-born Nuyorican BOBBY SANABRIA reimagines Leonard Bernstein’s iconic West Side Story through the vibrant, pulsing lens of Latin jazz. Performed live by the electrifying Bobby Sanabria MULTIVERSE Big Band, this reworking—captured on the GRAMMY-nominated double CD West Side Story Reimagined, which also won the prestigious Jazz Journalists Association Album of the Year Award—infuses Bernstein’s score with Afro-Caribbean grooves, Puerto Rican bomba and plena, and the fierce swing of New York jazz. With the full support of the Leonard Bernstein estate, this “painfully beautiful” production transforms each note into a powerful call for resilience, cultural pride, and unity.
