Grease, Music Mountain Theatre

In Rydell High’s class of 1959, head “greaser” Danny Zuko and good girl Sandy Dumbrowski try to relive the high romance of their “Summer Nights,” as the rest of the gang sings and dances their way through songs that recall the music that became the soundtrack of a generation. This stage and screen blockbuster of ‘50s nostalgia is one the world’s most popular musicals.

Cricket, English Speaking Union - Princeton Branch, Center for Modern Aging

Have you ever wondered where the phrase "a sticky wicket" originated? Find out that and more about the history and practice of cricket with speaker Clarence Modeste, who was inducted into the Cricket Hall of Fame in 2011. He has been a member of the Staten Island Cricket Club since 1961 and president since the 1990s. Many cricket clubs are organized by nationality, but SICC is open to all comers, and has hosted matches with local, national, and international teams. Among the accomplishments of which Modeste is most proud is the successful introduction of a program for organized youth cricket to Staten Island CC in 2010 at which boys and girls, aged 5-18 years, are taught the game. Refreshments served. $10 for nonmembers.

Let's Just Sing! Choral Reading of Gilbert & Sullivan's Ruddigore, Princeton Society of Musical Amateurs

Location: Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Princeton, Rt 206 at Cherry Hill Road, Princeton NJ

The Princeton Society of Musical Amateurs welcomes singers of all levels to participate. Vocal scores provided. $10 admission for singers (or annual membership for our monthly sings). Free for students and non-singing guests. Members of the community gather together for the common and joyful enterprise of making music for their own pleasure, singing through the great works in choral literature with chorus, orchestra, and soloists as the works require. There are no separate rehearsals and no auditions. Walk-in singers and listen-only guests are welcome at all sessions. Conductors may do some light preparation with the chorus before the sing-through. Orchestra members participate by invitation, based on the instrumental needs of the work. Prokofiev’s First Violin Concerto featuring Bella Hristova

Bulgarian-American violinist Bella Hristova has won international acclaim for her “expressive nuance and rich tone” (The New York Times). She performs Sergei Prokofiev’s lyrical first violin concerto. Andreia Pinto Correia’s 2018 work Ciprés explores themes of trees and water. The program concludes with Dmitri Shostakovich’s first symphony, an early work revealing the composer’s profound talent.
