“The prolific output of Stanley Clarke can soothe you with a gentle bow of the bass… or launch you into an interplanetary future,” raves The New York Times. A four-time GRAMMY winner and 2022 NEA Jazz Master, Clarke is a peerless innovator who redefined the role of the bass in jazz. As a founding member of the legendary fusion group Return to Forever, alongside the late Chick Corea and Lenny White, he helped shape the genre’s evolution. Over his 50-year career, Clarke has earned “living legend” status, becoming the first bassist in history to command equal mastery of both acoustic and electric bass—and the first jazz-fusion bassist to headline tours and sell out venues worldwide.
