Wassailing the Apple Trees, Terhune Orchards

Sunday January 26, 2025
1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Each winter Terhune Orchards follows an ancient Anglo-Saxon tradition of Wassailing the Trees. Wassail is an ancient Saxon word that means "health be to you," and it's the health of the trees that we will celebrate. We ask you to help us make the 2025 season great by joining us on Sunday Jan. 26 from 1-4 p.m. for our annual Wassailing Celebration.

We will gather under the bare branches of our orchard which are over a century old. Handsome Molly dancers dressed in traditional dress of black costumes play an important role in the festivities each year. Kingsessing Morris dancers will also be joining in the dancing with their white garb and festive feathers. Everyone joins in with chanting and music making, toasts of hot cider and placing gifts of cider-soaked bread in the tree branches while chanting the lively words of praise for the New Year. Bring noisemakers— drums, whistles, bells, clackers, or put a few pebbles in an empty coffee can with a lid. These will make a joyful and worthy noise to drive away any and all spirits.

Terhune Orchards is located at 330 Cold Soil Rd., Princeton, NJ

'Here There Are Blueberries', McCarter Theatre

Sunday January 26, 2025
2:00 PM

2024 Pulitzer Prize Finalist

Hailed as the “best theatre of the year” (Los Angeles Times) this celebrated new production from the Tony and Emmy nominee Moisés Kaufman and the Tectonic Theater Project (The Laramie Project), comes to Princeton with an unmissable, two-week-only engagement. In 2007, a mysterious album featuring Nazi-era photographs arrived at the desk of a U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum archivist. As curators unraveled the shocking truth behind the images, the album soon made headlines and ignited a debate that reverberated far beyond the museum walls. Based on real events, Here There Are Blueberries tells the story of these historical photographs—what they reveal about the perpetrators of the Holocaust, and our own humanity.
