Now in its 17th year, the Princeton 5K continues to represent all that is good about community in-person events. Athletes, young and old, big and small, fast and not as fast — come together year after year to run or walk while generously supporting the Princeton High School Cross Country and Track & Field teams.
For those under 10 who aren’t up for the full 5K, the Kids Dash offers a fun but challenging 300m loop. Every participant will receive a youth-sized t-shirt and wear bib #1 with pride.

World Water Day 2026 Morning time frame 10 a.m. - noon Each session will offer games, explorations in our lab, water-themed arts and crafts, a vernal pool exploration hike, visits with critters that live in our water, and so much more! Try a sample from our Water Bar -- small cups filled with drinking water from local towns and wells - and vote on which one you think tastes the best. Learn about the importance of protecting our local water ways and the various actions you can take to keep our water clean, safe and healthy. World Water Day is an annual United Nations event, started in 1993, focusing on the importance of water. This year the UN is focused on water and gender. Patches will be available for purchase in our Nature Store on World Water Day.

Getting Ready for Spring
Terhune Orchards’ Read and Explore Program is a winter education series designed to engage young learners through stories, hands-on activities, and seasonal farm learning. The program follows the popular Read and Pick Program. This session is about Getting Ready for Spring. his Read and Explore session focuses on Getting Ready for Spring, helping young participants transition from winter into the excitement of a new growing season. As Saint Patrick’s Day is the traditional day to plant peas and spinach and get the garden ready! The program lasts about an hour and includes a story and educational segment. After story time, each child will plant seeds to take home.

Learn how to make a shoelace sculpture inspired by artist Nari Ward’s Scape. Create a three-dimensional work of art out of shoelaces, guided by artist Veronica Olivares-Weber. Inspired by Nari Ward’s Scape (2012)—on view in Princeton Collects through March 29—this workshop invites participants to explore the expressive potential of everyday materials. Participants will build wire armatures and weave, wrap, and knot shoelaces and other materials to create fiber sculptures that convey personal and collective stories. The workshop kicks off with a gallery visit to view and discuss Ward’s work. $50 | Registration required | Open to the public (ages 14+)

Join the Friends of Princeton Open Space (FOPOS) and South Jersey Wildlife Tours for a guided Eastern Screech Owl Walk at dusk on Saturday, March 21st at 7:30pm. Did you know that Eastern Screech Owls are one of the most common owl species in North America? Odds are you have one of these nocturnal neighbors mere miles (or less!) from your doorstep. During this experience, we will walk the trails at the Billy Johnson Mountain Lakes Nature Preserve in Princeton and listen and look for Eastern Screech Owls, learning much more about them along the way.
Space is limited to 20 participants; be sure to sign up in advance. Please note that this event is geared towards adults as it begins at 7:30 PM.
