Performed live by the electrifying Bobby Sanabria MULTIVERSE Big Band, this reworking—captured on the GRAMMY-nominated double CD West Side Story Reimagined, which also won the prestigious Jazz Journalists Association Album of the Year Award—infuses Bernstein’s score with Afro-Caribbean grooves, Puerto Rican bomba and plena, and the fierce swing of New York jazz. With the full support of the Leonard Bernstein estate, this “painfully beautiful” production transforms each note into a powerful call for resilience, cultural pride, and unity.
