The University library, a major research facility, charges a fee to all without a Campus Identification Card. A range of access options exits, beginning with a One-Week-Pass for a nominal fee.

Firestone is a deposit library for Federal, New Jersey and United Nations documents. Specific requests from this collection only are accessible free of charge for on-site study. Displays from the Rare Book and Manuscript Collections are open to the public.

The Headquarters Branch coordinates the system-wide Home Borrowers Delivery Program, which matches patrons who are permanently or temporarily homebound with volunteers who select and deliver library materials. Passes to select museums and book club-in-a-bags are available free of charge to library card holders upon reservation.

The Public Library is open to everyone for in-library use of materials and for reference services. Library cards, required for borrowing, are free to all who live in or pay taxes to Princeton Borough or Township.

The collection includes books for adults and children, magazines, newspapers, records, CDs, audio tapes and video tapes. Record and players, along with earphones, are available for listening in the library. There are telephone books for all of New Jersey and major U.S. cities, college catalogs on microfiche, large print books, ESOL texts, foreign language books, pamphlet files, consumer publications, and annual reports of local and Fortune 500 firms. These extensive resources are supplemented by a statewide network for inter-library loans and reference service.
