With Lent now here, the Friday Fish Fry is upon us. And while Fish & Chips are an English casual food staple, but you don't need to travel to the United Kingdom to enjoy it here in New Jersey. Here are five local spots to enjoy it this week.
Nassau Street Seafood & Produce Co.
256 Nassau Street, Princeton
Nassau Street Seafood & Produce Company was established in 1982 and currently work with dockmasters, boats, oystermen, and fishermen both locally and around the world. They do have experienced fish mongers on hand who can handle any request you may have, from oysters on the half shell to de-boning a whole red snapper.
They offer box lunches including Fish & Chips — as well as Calamari, Firecracker Shrimp and Buffalo Calamari, all served with a side of chips. A huge list of other options include sandwiches, wraps & tacos, caesar salads and soups. Lobster Rolls are available Friday, Saturday & Sunday.

Msgr. Crean AOH Division 1

From February 19-April 2 - Every Friday for Lent, AOH is having their Lenten Fish Fry. Due to the ongoing Covid-19 situation, the Annual Lenten Fish Fry will be DRIVE THROUGH ONLY. Fish Fry hours will be 3:00-7:00 P.M. Simply enter the parkling lot on the Lady of Knock Shrine side, place your order, and after pick-up, exit on the Veterans Memorial side. Fish & Chips or Shrimp & Chips $12.00; Mac-n-Cheese or Soup $4.00; Phone in orders will not be accepted.
Chuck’s Spring Street Cafe
16 Spring Street, Princeton
Chuck’s Spring Street Cafe is a bare-bones counter-serve joint with a varied fast-food menu, from Buffalo wings to burgers & BBQ.
Chuck’s offers Fish & Chips, as well as fried seafood including, clam sandwiches, clam strips, crab cakes, crab cake sandwiches, flounder sandwiches and a shrimp combo. Currently they have take-out and online orders only. (Online orders available via DoorDash and Grubhub.). They're open 11AM-9PM.
Jojo’s Tavern
2677 Nottingham Way, Trenton
JoJo’s Tavern in Hamilton has been a Family Restaurant since the restaurant opened in 1962. JoJo’s is known for their pizza and has a full bar with craft drafts on tap, with live entertainment on Friday & Saturday nights. Indoor Dining is available at 25% capacity. Reservations recommended. Please call 609.586.2678. They are now open 7 days a week.
People rave about their Lent Special of Fish & Chips, which is served all day.
ShrimpKing
1111 US Highway 130, Robbinsville
ShrimpKing is a comfy eatery & fish market that serves seafood — as well as steaks, chops & gyros.
The ShrimpKing has Fish & Chips on the menu along with a huge list of Fried and Broiled Seafood Platters and sandwiches, including Fried Cod, Fried or Broiled Cod, Found or Crabcake sandwiches. They also offer cooked, cleaned, and deveined shrimp. They have an "Ash Wednesday" special that includes: Ahi Tuna, Swordfish, Monkfish; Mussels cooked in red or white sauce; Fresh Flounder; Jumbo Scallops; Raw Snow crab legs; King crab legs; and Dungeonous crab legs.
