The Nutcracker, American Repertory Ballet, McCarter Theatre, Princeton. American Repertory Ballet brings the beloved classic Nutcracker to the stage with Tchaikovsky’s magnificent score, thrilling choreography and a cast of more than 100. A holiday tradition for more than 50 years (1964), American Repertory Ballet’s Nutcracker is one of the longest, continuously running Nutcracker productions in the nation. Directed by Artistic Director Douglas Martin, ARB’s professional company will be joined by select students from Princeton Ballet School to tell the story of a young girl named Clara and how a mysterious gift from her Uncle Drosselmeyer brings about enchanted dreams and fantastical scenes. A Christmas Story – The Musical’, MCCC’s Kelsey Theatre, West Windsor Campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road. With tacky leg lamps, weird department store Santas, and ruined turkey dinners – courtesy of the neighbor’s dog – the holiday season commences at Mercer County Community College’s (MCCC's) Kelsey Theatre with “A Christmas Story – The Musical.” Tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for seniors and $16 children/students. Tickets may be purchased at www.kelseytheatre.net or by calling the Kelsey Box Office at 609-570-3333. Kelsey Theatre is wheelchair accessible, with free parking next to the theater.

#OptOutside Event, Mercer County Park Commission, Various Locations. The Mercer County Park Commission is partnering with REI Co-op to host a variety of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors in the County’s parks. #OptOutside will take place on Friday, Nov. 23, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Roebling Park, Mercer Meadows and Baldpate Mountain. Participants this year will have the opportunity to join the Nature Programs for scavenger hunts in either Roebling Park or Mercer Meadows, or a hike to the summit of Baldpate Mountain. Visit the Tulpehaking Nature Center or the new Historic Hunt Barn to pick up your “Choose your Own Adventure Passport” where participants can search for clues through the trails of Roebling Park and Mercer Meadows. OptOutside Event, Friends of Princeton Open Space, Mountain Lakes House, 57 Mountain Avenue, Princeton. OptOutside is a movement to encourage people to spend time in nature rather than crowded stores Black Friday shopping the day after Thanksgiving. The community is invited to the Mountain Lakes House to enjoy nature-themed art activities, live music, cider and snacks from1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Trail maps will be available for walks and hikes before or after the event.
