Burgers from Red Barn Milk Company, a partnership between Hun-Val Dairy Farm of Ringoes, Double Brook Farm of Hopewell and Brick Farm Market. The shop, open from April to October, offers milkshakes, ice cream, fries, hot dogs -- and of course burgers.

The summer brings things like popsicles, swimming sessions, fireflies —and with all that grills across the county sizzle with juicy, delicious burgers. Ditch the grill and visit one of these local joints for the most scrumptious burgers in the area—according to you.
The Spots:
Rocky Hill Inn
137 Washington Street, Rock Hill
The Rocky Hill Inn touts itself as "Central Jersey's Premier Gastropub," with a changing selection of craft beer and pub favorites. The restaurant has been featured on Food Network’s Diners, Drive In & Dives, as well as recognized by other local media for their burgers.
The burger list is substantial with arger menu pretty large -- so you should check it out yourself. Order yourself some sliders, made with beef and topped with bacon jam & cheddar, as well as turkey sliders with bacon, bleu cheese and avocado. According to staff, all burgers are made with a short rib, strip steak and panchetta mix. The Rocky Hill Inn Burger features applewood smoked bacon, grilled onions, cheddar and Griggstown farm sunny-side egg ($14). The Ava Burger has smoke gouda, caramelized onions and granny smith apples and comes served on Sourdough bread, panini style ($12). The Spicy @$$ Burger is cajun seasoned and showcases pepperjack cheese, frizzled onions, cherry peppers and chipotle mayo ($13).
Feel free to bring your pooch along — The Rocky Hill Inn is a dog friendly restaurant for outside dining.
The Habit Burger Grill
3371 US-1, Lawrence
This fast food chain offers a handful of charbroiled burgers, as well as sandwiches and salads. You can order a single or double burger in hits like the Classic (charburger, crisp lettuce, fresh tomato, caramelized onions, pickle & mayo on a toasted bun ($8.31), Santa Barbara Char (double char with cheese and avocado on grilled sourdough ($6.75) or Teriyaki (char with grilled pineapple, teriyaki sauce, crisp lettuce, fresh tomato, pickle and mayo on a toasted bun ($4.10 without cheese, $4.80 with cheese). You can add sides and a drink for a combo meal. Sides include favorites, as well as onion rings and tempura green beans. Find other locations in Cherry Hill, King of Prussia and Bridgewater Township.
Brick Farm Tavern
130 Hopewell Rocky Hill Road, Hopewell
Brick Farm Tavern greets guests to enjoy their historic farmhouse setting with upscale New American plates, using ingredients from local farms. The lunch menu features the Thistle Creek Devon Burger with bacon jam, cheddar, garlic aioli and fries ($16). Add a Red Star egg for $2.
Tiger Tale
1290 US 2016, Montgomery
This bustling bar has traditional pub fare, as well as loyalty club & VIP text club for frequent diners.
Tiger Tales’ famous burgers are 8 ounces of fresh USDA ground beef, served along side a pickle, coleslaw and chips. There are “New Jersey” sliders on the on the menu, topped with Trenton pork roll and American cheese. You can find the same pork roll-laden burger on menu ($10.99), along with the Cheddarburger, which includes Tiger Tales’ creamy Wisconsin cheddar ($9.99). Check out their menu for a few other burger choices, all which have the option to add lettuce and tomato, as well as bacon or a variety of cheeses. There is also a burger on the kids’ menu for the little ones.
The Witherspoon Grill
57 Witherspoon Street, Princeton
While the Witherspoon Grill is known for it's surf 'n' turf, cocktails and patio, it also has a burger that followers rave about. The Witherspoon Burger can be ordered at Lunch or Dinner and features a 10oz. Angus beef burger with french fries ($16). Add on 2 hour onions, sautéed mushrooms, bacon, cheddar, swiss, American or bleu cheese to make it your own ($1/each). Sides (which range from $8-$10) include onion rings, baked mac and cheese and Brussel sprouts with bacon and shallots.
The Achemist & Barrister (A&B)
28 Witherspoon Street, Princeton
A&B is a quaint restaurant serving up standard American bar food. Their burger list is long, so it’s worth checking out for yourself! Some options include The Tiger Burger, a blackened burger with cheddar, lettuce and tomato with Tiger Sauce (a mix of mayo, ketchup and mustard) ($17); Beef and Portobello Mushroom Burger, with gruyere cheese, sautéed mushrooms, caramelized onions with a shitake mushroom mayo ($17), Rise & Shine Burger, the features bacon and eggs your way, with American cheese, salt, pepper & ketchup ($18).
A “Throwback” Burger brings back A&B’s 1974 burger with port wine cheese and sweet red pepper relish. They also have a Spinach & Black Bean Burger with queso fesco, sliced avocado, lettuce, pico de gallo and an orange-tarragon ailoli. All of A&B's burgers are served on a kaiser roll and served with French fries & a pickle.
Agricola Eatery
11 Witherspoon Street, Princeton
Agricola Eatery is a creative modern farm-to-table restaurant with an open kitchen. Enjoy Agricola’s Dry Aged Angus Beef Burger, which features aioli, adirondack cheddar and house-made pickles on an onion bun ($17). Sip one of their house-made sodas like ginger pomegranate, peach lemonade or blackberry. Be mindful as it is only served on their lunch menu (Monday through Friday from 11:30AM-2:30PM) and afternoon menu at the bar (served 2:30PM-5PM).
Cream King, Pennington
49 NJ-31, Pennington
Cream King has been around since 1958 and prides itself on being a pillar of the Pennington Community since then. Locally owned and operated, Cream King offers soft serve and hand dipped ice cream, creative sundaes & milkshakes and items from the grill. People rave about this classic roadside ice cream stand and visitors love the ambiance and innocence of the place.
According to staff, customer favorites include their Bacon Buster Burger, which features two beef patties, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and bacon, as well as their Bulldog Burger, piling one beef patty and one piece of pork roll with cheese.
Red Barn Milk Co.
392 NJ-31, Ringoes
Red Barn Milk Co. is a partnership between Hun-Val Dairy Farm of Ringoes, Double Brook Farm of Hopewell and Brick Farm Market. The shop, open from April to October, offers milkshakes, ice cream, burgers, fries, hot dogs & brats. Their grass-fed burgers, heritage pro or pasture-raised turkey — gets rave reviews. Burger choices include a Plain Jane Burger with American cheese ($7.50), Red Barn Burger which features 1/3lb. patty, iceberg lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, American cheese and a special sauce ($8), Farm Burger with cheddar, caramelized onion, bacon and garlic aioli ($9) and a Veggie Burger with a lentil and wild rice patty, lettuce, tomato and coffee BBQ relish ($7.50).
Wash it all down with Marchese Farm’s farm-fresh press juices!
Winberie’s Restaurant & Bar
1 Palmer Square, Princeton
Winberie’s, a casual eatery, that features burgers, brews, brunch, has been around since 1984 in Palmer Square. Their burger list includes an All American Cheeseburger, with a half pound Angus beef, lettuce, tomato and a choice of cheese (like American, cheddar, brie, Monterey Jack, Provolone, Emmenthal, Gorgonzola) on a brioche bun ($13) and a Bistro Burger, with applewood smoked bacon, brie, sautéed onions, lettuce, tomato, Dijon Ailoli on a brioche bun. ($15). Your meal comes with the option of house-made chips, bries, fruit, tortilla chips, coleslaw or greens. Burgers can be served on a gluten-free roll for an additional cost ($3).
The dinner menu adds a House-Made Vegetarian Burger with brown rice, portobello, oats, beets, lettuce, tomato, walnuts, smoked paprika aioli, Emmenthal swiss on a Brioche bun ($13).
There is also a burger on the children’s menu, which includes a fresh vegetable, fruit or fries, as well as a drink and ice cream for dessert ($9).
Metro North
278 Alexander Street, Princeton

Metro North is an Italian upscale bar with a bar scene and outdoor patio, which makes a great spot for enjoying your burger al fresco. The menu boosts a full list of of delicious burgers, including the Half Pound Beef, Turkey, Salmon Burger, Cajun (which includes sautéed mushrooms & swiss), Bleu Cheese and a BBQ Burger, with cheddar, barbecue sauce and fried onions. You can grab their lunch burgers for $13 (11AM-3PM), while the price goes to $15 for dinner (3PM-close).
