Growing a Garden of Goodies

Earth Day kicks off our season of Read & Pick this year. Read & Pick is an innovative program that combines hands-on farm activity with your young child followed by an education program with stories highlighting the fruit or farm area. For Earth Day, we welcome young farmers to celebrate planting time, gardens and nature bounty. We will be reading books highlighting gardening and growing followed by an educational component. Then everyone will be a farmer and plant seeds to take home. The cost is $12.00 per child and includes the activity.

There are two sessions on Tuesdays at 9:30 am and 11 am, lasting about one hour. Online pre-purchase of tickets is required.

The Mercer County Library System is hosting the 17th Annual TrashedArt Contest Reception. The contest celebrates Earth Day by encouraging patrons to turn ordinary trash into extraordinary art. Grand prize winners will be awarded for first, second and third places, as well as a People’s Choice award. The reception is open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. Registration is requested.
