LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. — Founded in 1970, Westminster Conservatory has provided musical training to countless students from its location in Princeton and from satellite campuses in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. For the last several years, the Conservatory has operated on the former Westminster Choir College campus in Princeton under special arrangement with the Municipality of Princeton.
This summer, the Westminster Conservatory of Music will move to Rider University's Lawrenceville campus. This move is part of broader operational and programmatic restructuring efforts intended to preserve and strengthen core Conservatory offerings while creating closer alignment with the new Westminster College of Media and Performing Arts.
The following Conservatory programs will move to the Lawrenceville campus effective August 1, 2026:
– Private instruction in piano, recorder, and voice
– Honors Music Program
– Westminster Community Orchestra
– Opera Outings
Faculty teaching in the continuing program areas will be contacted directly regarding opportunities to teach in Lawrenceville. All other programs, including lessons on instruments other than those listed above, will not continue this fall. Summer programs, including private lessons and summer camps currently scheduled on the former WCC campus in Princeton, will proceed as planned unless otherwise noted.
Current Conservatory students in piano, recorder, and voice will be offered the opportunity to continue their study in Lawrenceville. Pre-registration for these students will take place in July. Registration for new students from the greater Lawrenceville community will open in early August with an anticipated September 15 start date.
