Washington Crossing Reenactment, Washington Crossing Historic Park
Each December, thousands of people gather on the banks of the Delaware River to watch the reenactment of George Washington’s daring 1776 Christmas night river crossing. During the event, several hundred reenactors in Continental military dress listen to an inspiring speech by General Washington and then row across the river in replica Durham boats. Come out for the First Crossing on Sunday, December 14th, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM (actual crossing at 1:00 PM). This is not a dress rehearsal, but rather a fundraising event. Beyond witnessing the historical reenactment, visitors can immerse themselves in the Colonial Era for the day. During this event, families are invited to participate in a range of activities.
