Open Mic Afternoon: Celebrate Witherspoon-Jackson Neighborhood with Poetry and Community Connection

Poets and spoken word fans, join us for an afternoon of heartfelt storytelling, community connection, and reflection celebrating the Witherspoon-Jackson neighborhood, Princeton’s 20th historic district.

The program will begin at 2pm with book signings, followed by remarks from our Executive Director Adam Welch and a conversation with the Rev. Gregory S. Smith, Evelyn Turner-Counts, and Aaron Fisher. Following the discussion, performers are invited to participate in an open mic session, sharing spoken word pieces and poetry inspired by the spirit of the Witherspoon-Jackson community.

Princeton History Walking Tour, Historical Society of Princeton

Enjoy a walk around downtown Princeton and the University campus as you learn about historic sites in the area, including Nassau Hall, University Chapel and Palmer Square. Hear some of the classic history and lesser-known stories of Princeton’s diverse past. Tickets are $20. Advance purchase is required; use the form below. Tour starts in the courtyard of the Princeton Battle Monument (GPS address: 1 Monument Drive).

All-Ages Folk Dance with Princeton Country Dancers

Our family-friendly dance features square dances, contra dances, play party games, other traditional American dances, and sometimes folk dances from around the world. It's great fun for the whole family, from young children (ages 4 and up) to parents and grandparents and other adult friends. No partner or experience is needed. The dances will be led by our local callers; live music will be provided by the Mixed Age Dance Band. Musicians of all ages and abilities are welcome to join the MAD Band - there is a rehearsal immediately before each family dance from 2:15 - 3:00 pm. ?Admission: $10 per person, or $25 per family of 3 or more. For those with limited income: $5-$10 per person and $15-$25 per family
