The Stories Fabrics Tell: An Illustrated History, William Trent House

On Sunday, March 1, 2026, Leslie Bramlett will give the keynote talk for the Trent House's "Fabric, Stories, & Memory" project. Her free talk will be given in the William Trent House Museum Visitor Center at 2 pm. The Museum is located at 15 Market Street in Trenton, New Jersey, across from the Hughes Justice Complex. Free parking is available off William Trent Place behind the museum property.

Leslie's talk provides an illustrated historical overview of fabric as a cultural artifact, evoking both personal and collective memories. and will recount fascinating stories behind fabric designs from the past. Her talk starts off a month-long exhibition and series of programs at the Trent House, celebrating the long history in our city, state, and nation of embracing, preserving, and building on the material culture of the many groups who have enriched our country. Beginning on March 8th through the 28th, visitors can view the exhibition in the historic house of garments and other textiles from Latino, Liberian, and Ukrainian cultures as well as contemporary fabric art. Enjoy a walk around downtown Princeton and the University campus as you learn about historic sites in the area, including Nassau Hall, University Chapel and Palmer Square. Hear some of the classic history and lesser-known stories of Princeton’s diverse past. Tickets are $20. Advance purchase is required; use the form below. The Old City Hall Restoration Committee in Bordentown presents "From Mysticism to Espionage: The Soviet Electronic Music Revolution and the Bizarre Story of Leon Theremin" on Sunday, March 1, 4 p.m., at Old City Hall, 13 Crosswicks Street, Bordentown. The free event will be led by New Jersey-based multimedia artist Bill Nobes and examine the creator of the world's most untraditional musical instrument – one that requires no physical human contact.

Dorothea's House Program/Lecture
