My name is Guntas Dhanjal, and I'm a Life Scout with Troop 132, currently working toward my Eagle Scout rank. For my Eagle Project, I am partnering with Friends of Princeton Open Space (FOPOS) to restore a 50 ft x 50 ft degraded area at the Billy Johnson Mountain Lakes Nature Preserve in Princeton.
This project will:
Remove invasive species that threaten native habitats.
Replant the area with 100+ native plants to improve biodiversity.
Engage 25–30 volunteers (Scouts, families, and community members) in hands-on restoration.
Contribute over 100 service hours to improving the preserve.
Beyond conservation, this project connects to my passion for healthcare and technology. Research shows that green spaces improve air quality and can help reduce asthma rates, especially in children. By restoring even small sections of nature, we can make a measurable difference in community health and sustainability.
I've launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for native plants, volunteer supplies, and snacks. Any additional funds will go directly to FOPOS to support ongoing land stewardship.

In addition to fundraising, we welcome more volunteers from the community to join us on-site for invasive removal and native planting. It's a great opportunity for families, students, and neighbors to take part in hands-on conservation.
