MLK Day of Service: Land Stewardship Volunteer Session, FOPOS

Join the Friends of Princeton Open Space (FOPOS) on MLK Day for a volunteer land stewardship session on Monday, January 19th, 2026, and honor Dr. King's dedication to service and community. Volunteers will work under the guidance of the FOPOS stewardship staff to perform ecosystem restoration and invasive species removal in the Billy Johnson Mountain Lakes Nature Preserve. We have two volunteer sessions: 10AM-12PM and 1PM-3PM. Please pick the timeslot that works best for you! You are also welcome to attend both sessions. Groups welcome!

From Dream to Dialogue: The Power of Faith in Action — Embodying MLK's Legacy

Join the West Windsor Human Relations Council for the 2026 MLK Day of Service and Learning, a community gathering honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s moral vision through dialogue, reflection, music, and service. This year's program explores how faith, justice, and civic responsibility intersect in our diverse community. Guest speakers include Reverend Bob Moore, Executive Director of the Coalition for Peace Action, who will reflect on the role of faith in his lifelong work for peace and social justice, and Christian E. Fisher, Assistant Mercer County Prosecutor, who will discuss the 14th Amendment and birthright citizenship. The program will also feature musical performances by West Windsor Patrol Officer Alison Pollini and a closing sing-along with Wade Alan, along with video reflections from Dr. King's own words. Community members are invited to participate in a Q&A and open dialogue, sharing their dreams for change and answering the question: How do you want to serve your community—and how can the community support you? FOOD COLLECTION As part of the MLK Day of Service, attendees are encouraged to participate in a food collection for Mercer Street Friends, with assistance from Boy Scouts Troop 40. All are welcome to help label SHUP bags during the event. Requested Food Donations Please consider bringing any of the following shelf-stable items: • Hot or cold cereal • Granola bars • Canned fruit • Peanut butter • Jelly or jam • Beans (canned or dried) • Applesauce • Pasta • Flour • Sugar • Herbs and spices • Olive oil or vegetable oil • Rice • Shelf-stable milk • Canned tuna or salmon

Meeting, The Women's College Club of the Princeton

On January 19, 2026 The Women's College Club of the Princeton will meet 1 to 3 PM at Morven Museum Stockton Educational Center 55 Stockto St, Princeton NJ. This month's talk is titled The Watershed Institute and Your Community. Jim Waltman will give an overview of the Watershed Institute and how it is working with community members to address waterways issues. Topics covered will be flooding, water quality, water testing programs, monitoring waterways for harmful algal blooms, and partnerships with local municipalities. We will also hear about StreamWatch Schools, a program that connects students to their local waterways and builds STEM skills, opportunities to connect to nature with a naturalist, and the Nature Play area for children.

MLK Day Poster-Making Workshop, ACP

Join us as we celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr with a community art workshop, free and open to all. At this community gathering, we'll provide materials to design a sign to be placed in your window, spreading MLK's messages of peace and social justice with all passersby.
