1/4 - Trenton Walks! - Trenton Revolutionary War Battles, 9:30am., On Saturday, January 4, Trenton's pivotal role in the American Revolutionary War will be the backdrop for the next outing of the Trenton Walks! program. The walk starts at the Battle Monument at 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of N. Warren and Tucker Streets and will continue for 2.8 miles through downtown Trenton, past 18 sites associated with the First and Second Battles of Trenton. This walk will be led by Tim Brill and Becky Taylor, co-chairs of the program, Jacque Howard, media guru with Trenton 365, and Ralph Siegel, recent host of the Trenton Battlefield Walking Tour.

1/18 - SSAAM Presents: Lord, Write My Name – A Gospel Concert Celebrating the African American Experience, 3pm., The Stoutsburg Sourland African American Museum (SSAAM) will ring in the new year with Lord, Write My Name – The Gospel and African American Experience in Spirituals, featuring acclaimed baritone Keith Spencer and award-winning composer Peter Hilliard. This soul-stirring concert, held at the Unitarian Universalist Church at Washington Crossing on Saturday, January 18, 2025, will weave together iconic African American spirituals and powerful narratives, poetry, and letters written by enslaved and free Black historical figures.. 1/20 – MLK Day of Service, Friends of Princeton Open Space, 10-3pm.During this session, volunteers will work with FOPOS's stewardship team to battle invasive plant outbreaks at the Preserve. We will also work to free large established trees from the grip of invasive vines. Participants will gain skills in plant identification and learn about some of the pressures New Jersey's forests face.

1/20 – Monthly Meeting, Women’s College Club of Princeton, 1-3pm., On January 20, 2024 The Women's College Club of the Princeton will meet 1 to 3 PM at Morven Museum Stockton Educational Center 55 Stockton, Princeton NJ. This month's topic is Education for Community and the Common Good. The value of a college education is in hot debate as tuitions continue to skyrocket and return on investment is the name of the game. Pamela Barnett, the newest Dean at The College of New Jersey, will address this debate head-on. 1/26 – Opening Art Reception, 2:30-4pm., Tulpehaking Nature Center at Abbott Marshlands invites art enthusiasts and nature lovers alike to "Dual Nature," a compelling art exhibition that explores nature from two distinct perspectives. Featuring the work of accomplished animal artist Beatrice Bork and landscape artist Joe Kazimierczyk, "Dual Nature" will be on view from January 19 through February 28, 2025. The exhibition will be held at Abbott Marshlands' Tulpehaking Nature Center, a setting that perfectly aligns with the artists’ themes and passion for natural beauty. An opening reception date will be held January 26 at 2:30-4:00, offering an opportunity to meet the artists and explore their interpretations of nature in person. The public is invited to attend. 1/26 - Concert: Jersey Transit, Princeton Public Library, 3-4:15pm., A cappella ensemble Jersey Transit performs a repertoire of songs including jazz standards, reggae, R&B and today’s pop. Jersey Transit is a mixed post-collegiate a cappella vocal group. The ensemble has been around for more than 25 years, with some of the original members still in the group. They began singing a cappella before it was cool, and then out of fashion, and now it is cool again. Performing almost completely without instruments (occasionally one of the members tries to sneak in a French horn or some percussion), Jersey Transit sings a broad repertoire of songs that appeals to all ages.
