Arts & Health Mercer, a coalition of nearly a dozen arts and cultural organizations in Mercer County, has reunited for a month of special programming. This year's theme, "Creating a Path to Health and Well-Being," is an invitation to the community to take care of your physical, emotional and social health by attending as many events as possible during Arts and Health month this November. The Rutgers Jewish Film Festival's milestone year will feature fourteen thought-provoking and entertaining films, dynamic discussions with filmmakers and special guests, and numerous New Jersey premieres on dance, music, the LGBTQ+ experience, American Jewish history, and Israeli society. 11/12 - Reading and Book Signing with Winnie Hughes Spar, The Watershed, 7-8:30pm Winnie Hughes Spar, who has taught Eco poetry courses at the Watershed for the past nine years, will celebrate the recent publication of her poetry collection The Village of New Ghosts, winner of the 2024 Henry Morgenthau III poetry prize from Passager Books. Grace Cavalieri, former poet laureate of Maryland and judge of the competition, said of the book, "Someone is obviously in charge of this work. Someone is in control of its precise syntax and beautiful heart. I never wanted to stop reading." Copies of her book will be available for purchase at the reading.

11/13 - Discussion: Affordable Housing in NJ, The Jewish Center, 6-7:30pm. Jewish Center, 435 Nassau Street, Princeton. What are we doing to increase the amount of affordable housing in New Jersey? Adam Gordon, executive director of the Fair Share Housing Center will be one of three speakers talking about the new bill, S50/A4, signed into law by Gov. Murphy on March 20, 2024, that creates a permanent legislative-based system that will assign housing obligations to municipalities in New Jersey. State and local experts will talk about the new statute and how it will work in municipalities throughout the state. The event is co-sponsored by The Jewish Center, Congregation Beth Chaim (West Windsor), and Har Sinai Temple (Pennington). 11/21 - Transportation and Technology, Lawrence Headquarters Branch of the MCLS, 11am - Many people in our community do not know the public transportation system well enough to feel comfortable using it. The Great Mercer TMA Travel Training Program will assist everyone, especially seniors, individuals with disabilities, and people with lower incomes, to overcome these obstacles and improve their mobility. 11/28 - 14th Annual Hopewell Valley 5K Turkey Trot, 9am., Rosedale Park Pennington - Thanksgiving morning is the perfect time to come together as a community and it is a wonderful sight to watch neighbors, classmates, alumni, and families meet and spend time together. The race attracts walkers, strollers, joggers, serious runners and multi-generational families participating together. This event is the annual fundraiser for Hopewell Valley Youth Wrestling and the High School Wrestling Team. The funds are used to supplement this important athletic program, and the event is hosted and coordinated by the team, parents, and coaches. 11/29 – Annual Tree Lighting on Palmer Square, 5pm., Join us on November 29th as we bring the holiday spirit to life during our Annual Tree Lighting! The festivities begin at 2:30pm on the Green as Ice Sculpture Philly carves a baby grand piano out of ice! As dusk falls, these frosty works of art will set the stage for The Flying Ivories to perform later in the evening. The fun doesn’t stop there! At 5pm the lighting officially begins. Straight from the heart of the Jersey Shore, a featured concert from the BSTREETBAND will keep the party going!
