CALL FOR LAND STEWARDS - Volunteer with us! Love spending time outdoors in nature? Join us for volunteer sessions to assist at the Forest Restoration Site in the Billy Johnson Mountain Lakes Nature Preserve. Sign up for one or two, or come to all! Blood drives are critical now more than ever. Princeton University in conjunction with the American Red Cross is holding community blood drives at the Carl Fields Center on campus Thursday, September 10 and Friday, September 11 between 9am-2pm. Please note appointments are required to participate. The Red Cross has implemented added precautions to ensure blood drives are safe for donors and staff. Sourland Spectacular Sept 5 – 13 - Ride, Run or Hike to Help Restore our Local Forest - The Sourland Spectacular will be held September 5-13, 2020 on Sourland region roads and public hiking trails. Proceeds will support the work of the Sourland Conservancy. "Pay what you can." T-shirts included with registrations over $60 while supplies last. For more information or to register for the event, visit www.sourlandspectacular.com or email info@sourland.org. Proceeds from the event will be used to fund the Conservancy's stewardship, education, advocacy initiatives. The 90-square-mile region is on track to lose over one million trees within the next few years, according to New Jersey Forest Service estimates, due to an invasive insect: the emerald ash borer. Cyclists and runners from all around the tri-state area will challenge themselves on one of three Sourland region routes: 25.8miles, 38.2 miles, or 62.2 miles. Hikers and walkers may choose from 26 public parks and preserves that feature unique hiking trails of varying levels of difficulty - something for everyone.

FREE Book Day Princeton September 12 - Building on the recent success of Free Book Days in Pennington and Hopewell, 2020 high school graduate Anna Salvatore, the events' creator, has announced Princeton's version of the free book exchange will take place Saturday, September 12, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Organizers see the event as a way to strengthen community bonds during the coronavirus pandemic. Anyone who lives in Princeton can place free books on their lawn or curb. Mercer County residents are encouraged to roam Princeton and take whichever books look interesting. The event is free, but registration HERE is encouraged to show people which types of books will be available on different streets. 

Tree Planting in the Sourlands - Sourland Conservancy is hosting two riparian restoration projects this fall with our partners. We will be planting 1,000 trees in the Sourlands. Join us for one or both of our restoration projects! CDC COVID guidelines will be observed. September 18-21st at Otto's Farm Park in partnership with Hillsborough Township. 9/3 – Zoom into History – Princeton, The Nation’s Capital: 1783, Historical Society of Princeton, 7-8pm., In the summer of 1783, the Continental Congress met at Nassau Hall in Princeton, awaiting news of a peace treaty with Great Britain. On September 3, the Treaty of Paris was signed, formally ending the Revolutionary War. On the anniversary of this milestone, join educator (and long-time HSP walking tour guide) Barry Singer for an illustrated talk (via Zoom) describing the lead up to this pivotal moment in America's history, as this small rural town provides the backdrop for the historic events of that summer and fall. princetonhistory.org/events/princeton-the-nations-capital-1783/

9/4 – Tiki Bar Shabbat Service, Beth El Synagogue of East Windsor, 5:30pm., On Friday, September 4, 2020, attend the Beth El Synagogue of East Windsor Tiki Bar Shabbat Service, including Tropical Italian Ices. The festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. with Tropical Italian Ices. Outdoor services follow at 6:00 p.m. Please bring your own chair and mask. Please wear a mask and maintain proper social distance. 
In the event of inclement weather, services with limited seating will be held at 6:00 p.m. and require sign up prior to the date by calling the Synagogue office.

9/4 – DRIVE-IN Theatre – Mercer Park – Harry Potter & Sorcerers Stone, 7:30pm., Pack up your blankets and chairs for a movie under the stars at Grandparent's Grove at Mercer County Park. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Harry Potter & The Sorcerer's Stone will be the featured film for the Drive-in Movie Night. Doors open at 6:30 pm. The movie will begin at approximately 7:30 pm. after sunset. Parking lots will be closed once capacity is reached. Each parking space will have a designated area for one vehicle and lounging area to the side - masks will be required once leaving designated area. 9/12 - Autumn Arts Afternoon, 10 - 12:30pm.  Each year the West Windsor Arts Council offers this free, community-wide event to kick off the fall season. Autumn Arts Afternoon is our way of sharing the arts—and the vibrancy of the arts center—with the West Windsor community and beyond. This year, due to ongoing health concerns, we will not be at our usual location at the Nassau Park Pavilion. 9/17 – WID Roundtable Discussion - Burnout! Strategies for Handling Our New Normal, 12pm., How are we handling burnout?
