Tomato Patch Visual and Performing Arts Workshops

Tomato Patch Visual and Performing Arts Workshops, held annually on the West Windsor Campus of Mercer County Community College, is one of the longest-running and most successful multi-disciplinary summer arts programs in central New Jersey. Since 1973, over 7,000 junior and senior high school students have spent several weeks of their summer exploring the visual arts, dance, theater, and vocal music under the guidance of a highly qualified staff of teaching professional artists. Students select a major concentration in either the theater, dance, vocal music, visual arts, and spend two morning classes in these areas. After lunch, they are free to choose electives in other areas. Afternoon course offerings for 2018 may include children's theatre, "Who's line is it anyhow?", painting, drawing, jazz dance, musical theatre, children's theater, a cappella singing, hip hop, vocal ensemble, comedy, music video and web video.

The Bridge Academy is for students with learning disabilities and for teachers wanting to improve their skills. A 5- week comprehensive remedial reading program is designed to increase student's individual skills. 7-13 year olds with reading levels between 1st and 4th grade are eligible. Highly trained teachers provide an interactive, fun environment for students to increase their reading skills, phonemic awareness, strategy-based spelling instruction and oral reading to promote accuracy and fluency. Children study environmental science with multi-sensory activities, labs and field work through exploration of our stream and wooded grounds. Technology is highlighted with the use of laptops with the latest tools. Individual tutoring available in one hour sessions between 8-3p.m.

Spend your summer days riding on the beautiful 240-acre George School campus. Learn how to improve your riding and horsemanship skills. With beginner to advanced level horses, our camp includes flatwork, jumping, trail riding, and a weekly show. Our certified instructors emphasize safety and riding enjoyment for campers ages 8 to 14! Enjoy a different field trip or activity every Thursday and every Friday participate in a horse camp show case. Campers spend summer days outside exploring the wonders of nature on our 950-acre reserve. They learn about nature and themselves while playing in our fields, forests, pond, and stream with campers their age. Our camp has a distinctive home in our natural and engineered campus! The Watershed Center for Environmental Advocacy, Science, and Education is our new LEED Platinum-certified facility. It is a model for green building in our region. The Watershed Science and Stewardship Academy classes are week-long environmental investigations for high school students designed to invoke a sense of wonder and inquiry of the natural environment in the context of real-world issues. Box to Box Soccer Training — based in Princeton, NJ — enables young players to develop technical soccer skills and confidence in a supportive, encouraging, and fun environment. The training is designed to improve players' ball mastery, provoke creativity in their play, teach players how to evaluate and effectively respond to different game situations, and tap into the joy of playing.

We will be offering two weeks of camps located at the Chapin School during Summer 2018 for two coed age groups: 5-7 (all levels welcome) and 8-12 years (experience recommended). Training will include various individual and small-sided exercises, fitness and agility, dribbling (mastery and manipulation), passing and receiving, shooting, attacking and defending, and evaluating and reacting to different game situations. Players will leave camp with new skills, confidence, and a greater understanding of the game.
