As I write this, our Jamaica youth mission trip is less than three weeks
away. I can't believe it! The good news is that we have raised
the minimum amount of funds to be able to go. Phew!1 As so
many of you know, the cost of the trip went up considerably from the original
estimate, due mainly to the large hikes in airfare. The Presbytery
took a special offering to help with some of the additional cost.
Youth have looked to non-Covenant family and friends for help. However,
the biggest backing has come from this congregation. Once again,
Covenant people have rallied to support the youth by supporting our fundraisers.
For that we are thankful.
Please keep us in you prayers as we venture to Jamaica. A lot of hard work faces us when we get there. It will be hot and humid. We will be in an unfamiliar country with a very different culture than ours. For many of us, this is a very new experience. Yet, we go with enthusiasm of youth and the confidence of our faith. We look forward to reporting back to you that we had a successful trip. |
