PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE:

Dear Sisters:

Welcome back from what I trust was a great summer.  All too soon we must get back to our regular routines, so it is my hope that you had a relaxing time whatever you did.

Last June we elected officers (most continued in office) to serve 9/07 - 8/09.  Please see below for the list of officers

We are planning a fundraiser for April 27, 2008, and presently are "penciled in" at the Cranbury Inn.  An inquiry has also been made at the Holiday Inn, Hightstown.  A final decision will have to be made soon as dates are starting to be locked. In order for this event to be a success, every effort will have to be made by all members to ensure a profitable fundraiser, so start lining up your friends now.

We  have our new CJNBW banner which we can now display at any event we sponsor or participate in.

Three book awards were presented to Hightstown High graduating seniors on Awards Night on June 12.  All three students sent "thank you" notes which are much appreciated.

Suggestions are still needed for prospective guest speakers for the year.

The best to you all.

Joyce

CONGRATULATIONS

Noreen has been appointed Chair of English and Foreign Languages.  Much good luck.  We're so proud.

There are new kids on the block.  Our best to Jessica who is the proud Mom of twins boys who are thriving and healthy.  Some of us were able to pay a visit on 8/25 and enjoyed seeing and holding the babies.

Proud Grandma, Eleanor, welcomed her granddaughter, Amira, last month.

THANK YOU - Joan T. thanks those who were able to contribute school supplies which she took to the children of The Emmanuel Presbyterian Church in West Okyim Oda, Ghana. Everything was very much appreciated as the need is so great.

TIP for JUNE, 2007

Cleaning Patio Umbrella

To get rid of mildew, use a solution of 1 gallon water, 3/4 cup liquid household bleach and a squirt of liquid dishwashing detergent. (CAUTION: Avoid using detergents that should not be combined with chlorine bleach.  Check the labels.)  Open umbrella outdoors and lay on its side.  Put on gloves and old clothes and use a soft-bristled brush. Test a bit of the solution under the umbrella for colorfastness.  Then scrub each section of the umbrella. Rinse thoroughly with a hose and dry any metal parts.  Note: DO NOT use on acrylic prints because bleach will fade cotton.  Read care label.

PLEASE KEEP THE FOLLOWING INDIVIDUALS
 IN YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS:

Our continued best wishes are sent to  the following:  Louise's uncle; Kevin; Illean's brother, Bill and  Lorna's mother.

It is our intention to remember all who are ill, lost a loved one, and congratulate members and their families when achievements are made. However, you must let Lois know so mention can be made in the Newsletter.
