PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE:

Dear Sisters

Will you recall 10 years from today, where you were and what you were doing on January 20, 2009 when President-elect Barack Obama took the oath of office to become the 44th President of the US?  What an awesome day in the History of our country.

Congratulations to our new President and best of luck to him, his family and the new administration.

All members of CJNBW are being asked to come out to our Feb. 10 meeting.  I would like to spend the first half hour starting an important discussion  regarding CJNBW's future.  Please be on time - 7:30 p.m.

The rest of the evening will be devoted to the viewing and discussion of a film titled

"Amazing Grace".  This film is the story of William Wilberforce who was involved in trying to end the British slave trade.

Thanks to Illean for securing this film for our enjoyment in celebration of Black History Month

Thanks to those who brought in food donations for the Crisis Ministry.

Happy Valentine's Day to all.

.

Take care.

Joyce

Things to Consider:

  • Don't compare your life to others.  You have no idea what their journey is all about.

  • Frame every so-called disaster with these words: "In five years will this really matter?"

  • Life is to short to waste time hating anyone.

  • What other people think of you is none of your business.

  • Your job won't take care of you when you are sick - your friends will.  Stay in touch.

2010 U.S. CENSUS - If you are interested in temporary work, you may want to contact the U.S. Census Bureau, as they are in the process (I understand) of hiring a large number of census takers.  The website you should contact is: www.census.gov/2010censusjob/index.phb or www.WUSA9.com.

There will most likely be ads in local newspapers, so be on the look-out.

TIPS for February, 2009

Fruits

Apples keep longer if you make sure they don't touch one another.

Strawberries can be kept firm for several days if you store them in a colander in the refrigerator, which allows the cold air to circulate around them.

Berries - Do not wash or hull any berries until you're ready to eat them.

PLEASE KEEP THE FOLLOWING INDIVIDUALS
 IN YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS:

Our continued best wishes are sent to the following:  Louise's uncle; Kevin and Regina; Illean's brother, Bill, Lorna's mother, and Ruth's mother-in-law.

Please keep our own Louise in your prayers.

It is our intention to remember all who are ill, lost a loved one, and congratulate members and their families when achievements are made. However, you must let Lois know so mention can be made in the Newsletter.
