President's Message
Dear Members and Friends:

As I look back on these last 2 years, I am so pleased that you gave me the opportunity to serve as President of the Central Jersey Network of Black Women, Inc.  I have great memories of working with a dedicated group of women on the Steering Committee as well as volunteers from the membership at large.

Each one of these sisters supported me in countless ways and made the tasks that we undertook together rewarding and fulfilling.

Lois was always there with ideas and speakers to educate us on financial planning, and many other topics.  Lois also chaired the Scholarship Committee for Women Returning to College, and with Regina and Beverly, planned, organized and awarded scholarships to 7 mature women over the last 2 years.  She was also the force behind the Sunshine Committee, and boy, she certainly kept the cards coming!

Joyce and her partner on the PC, Liston, took care of all of our correspondence, programs and flyers.  Joyce has worked with the Education and High School Scholarships Committee for over 11 years!  She has been knee deep in paper for a long time.

Linda keeps bringing in the money!  She has spent so much time in the Network’s fund-raising activities that we owe Doug and her kids a BIG THANK YOU for the time we have stolen from them!

Shirley takes care of our finances and pays the Network’s bills on time.  She runs the October card sales solo, and you can’t hide from Shirley.  She will find you!

Illean is our reliable steward.  She makes sure that activities are advertised and guidelines are followed.  She chaired our February meeting which was so successful that we asked her to plan a similar meeting for later this year!

Many members have contributed their time and expertise to make CJNBW a vibrant and fun organization!

Because of our interactions on various committees, we have been able to get to know the members  quite well.  It requires some sacrifice to give up your time to do CJNBW’s work, but the rewards are terrific!

Thank you , ladies (and spouses)  for letting me be a part of this group!

Sincerely,

Ruth Rainford Timins

CLOTHING COLLECTION

Clothing (in good condition and clean, for working women) are always needed by the Urban Women's Center, 1201 W. Broad St., Trenton (contact Mary - 989-6639 - from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.; Mon - Fri).  These organizations assist women who are returning to work and do not have the proper attire for work.  They also need shoes and handbags.  Thank you for your help in this matter.  Your donations will be greatly appreciated. If you have large donations, it would be best to contact these agencies and arrange for drop off and to find out if they have the space for large donations. They can use suits for men, also.

TIPS

Swimsuit - To prevent fading/fabric damage from pool-water chlorine, put chlorine remover for aquarium water, which is available at pet stores.  Soak your bathing suit after each swim in a solution of 1 drop anti-chlorine formula in 1 gallon of water.  Don't rinse out.
