Blue Curtain, a beloved Princeton summer tradition, returns to Pettoranello Gardens Amphitheater, located at Route 206 and Mountain Avenue, with three family-friendly, free outdoor concerts in July. FREE SATURDAY MORNING PROGRAMS AT TRENTON CITY MUSEUM THROUGHOUT JULY - July 8, 15, 22, 29; 9 a.m. to 12 noon; for children aged 5 to 13, accompanied by an adult. Trenton City Museum invites area families to sign their kids up for its second annual July family programming series, Saturdays in July, offered for free. Trenton City Museum located in historic Ellarslie Mansion, at the heart of Cadwalader Park, offers a beautiful and spacious venue for participants of all ages. The museum-based fun and exploration for kids and their families starts with a continental breakfast and continues with a guided museum tour, scavenger hunt, stories about the history of Ellarslie Mansion and Cadwalader Park, and art and craft projects led by a rotating roster of guest teacher-artists. Breakfast, snacks, and t-shirts are provided for each participant along with the programs and craft workshops. The July Saturday morning programs are free of charge. Butterfly House Tours @The Watershed - You can join us for a guided tour of The Kate Gorrie Butterfly House to view and learn about local butterfly species every Thursday from 10 - 11 A.M all summer long. If time and weather allow, we try catching wild butterflies in the field. Cameras welcome. Advance registration required. If you would rather visit without a tour, The Kate Gorrie Butterfly House is free and open daily from dawn until dusk (mid-June through mid-September) except during a scheduled program or tour. The Kate Gorrie Butterfly House is fun for all ages and handicap accessible. Children under 3 are free. Adult attendance is required. Discount available for members. thewatershed.org/

Sharim V'Sharot - an independent, auditioned choir based in Mercer County, NJ, singing a broad repertoire of Jewish music in Hebrew, Yiddish, Ladino, English, French and Italian - is always looking for singers to complement our signature sound and be a part of Central New Jersey's Select Jewish Choir! Auditions for the 2023-2024 season are being held August through September and by appointment. Rehearsals are held on Tuesday evenings in Lawrenceville, NJ, from September through May. 7/6 - Princeton University Summer Chamber Concert - Newman & Oltman Guitar Duo @Nassau Presbyterian Church, 7:30pm., performing music by De Falla, Albeniz, Brouwer, and others. Tickets are free. No tickets are needed for concerts at Nassau Presbyterian Church. 7/7 - Fun on the Farm: Hayrides & Mini Arts & Crafts Fair, Cherry Grove Farm, 2-5pm.
Outside the Farm Store, milking parlour and creamery we'll be hosting a mini farmers market with fresh vegetables, mushrooms, fruit, flowers and lavender. There will also be a few artist and crafter vendors, a spinning wheel demonstration and free hayrides and wild plant walks. Bring the kids for a hayride, to visit and pet our calves, and around 4-5pm they can see the cows being milked. Grown-ups can peruse the paintings, shop for the weekend and enjoy a drink or picnic overlooking the bucolic views. 7/8 & 7/9 – Blueberry Bash @Terhune’s, 10-5pm., Enjoy a visit to our 2-acre Pick Your Own blueberry patch. These sweet summer berries are on bushes that are easy for everyone to reach. After you’ve picked your blueberries (not included in admission), relax and enjoy live local country music (12 to 4 p.m. both days). ALBO is playing on Saturday, and Meghan Carey on Sunday. 7/8 – 3rd Annual RainbowMoonFest @Glenmoore Farm, 11am-10pm., Glenmoore Farm of Hopewell, NakedFeet Events of Princeton, and EcstaticDanceJersey of Princeton, present their third annual grassroots-organized, outdoor summer no-alcohol event of the year in Hopewell New Jersey. Celebrating local-area and regional musicians, artists and artisans, holistic teachers and merchants traveling from the Jersey Shore to Philadelphia, from upstate New York to California and Mexico. The festival has a family carnival vibe with face painting, roaming hula hoopers, slinky spinning(!) on a PEV (personal electric vehicle), jugglers, stilt walkers, acrobats, aerialists, bamboo staff twirling, and acro yogis, with live music, song circles, wellness activities, workshops, unique merchandise and quality food vendors. Ticket Prices $15 for admission for the daytime portion of the event and $22 tickets for the evening concert, dance and light-spinning acrobatics show. 7/9 - Summer Concert: Music: Love? said the Commander, Princeton Public Library, 4pm., From the band: Love? said the Commander is a DIY duo from the "PhilaJersey" area that embraces "maximal minimalism" to create slow burning indie-folk that’ll "make ya feel stuff." They met on Craigslist in the winter of 2018 and have been writing, recording, and performing together ever since. Band Members: Kate Hall (guitar, uke, violin, vocals) & Chris Bishop (guitar, bass) The concert will be in the Community Room in the event of rain.

7/11 - “American Ramble” with Author Neil King, Jr., Princeton Public Library, 6-7pm. In 2021, at a time of both national and personal upheaval, author Neil King started a 330-mile walk from Washington, DC, to New York City. The 26-day journey took him through historic battlefields and cemeteries, over the Mason-Dixon line, past Quaker and Amish farms, along Valley Forge stream beds, atop a New Jersey trash mound, across New York Harbor, and finally, to his ultimate destination: the Ramble, where a tangle of pathways converges in Central Park. For his Princeton audience, King will share local stories, including walking the Delaware Canal Path; crossing the river in the same location as George Washington, encountering the myth of the Mercer Oak, and experiencing Grover’s house in Grovers Mill. princetonhistory.org/events/6195/

7/12 – Contra Dancing @PSRC, 2-3pm., Come give contra dancing a try! It’s a great way to meet people, enjoy lively music, and get some exercise along the way. The dances have easy-to-learn patterns that are first taught, then danced to music from Irish, Appalachian, Klezmer, Cajun, and other influences. Come with or without a partner, wear casual clothes, and be ready to have fun! 7/13 – Outdoor Film Series, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, Princeton University Art Museum, 8pm., This year's outdoor film series features three movies notable for their remarkable use of landscapes, inspired by the exhibition Traces on the Landscape, on view at Art on Hulfish through August 6. 7/15 - Songs and Stories of the American Revolution Performed by Matthew Dodd, 2pm, Washington Crossing State Park, Titusville - Dressed in colonial clothing and performing rousing period songs and stories, Matthew Dodd will take you back in time to the days of the American Revolution. 7/19 - Free Vision Screening, Mercer County Connection, 11-2pm., Half of all blindness is preventable through regular vision screenings and education, so have your eyes checked today! Princeton Health and the New Jersey Commission for the Blind: Project Prevention Unit offer these free vision screenings to both adults and children. 7/19 – Monthly Meeting, League of Women Voters, 8pm., The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan, grassroots civic organization that encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy. 7/23 - Eastern Screech Owl Walk, FOPOS, 8:30pm, Join FOPOS and South Jersey Wildlife Tours for an Eastern Screech Owl Walk at dusk. Did you know that Eastern Screech Owls are one of the most common owl species in North America? Odds are you have one of these nocturnal neighbors mere miles (or less!) from your doorstep. During this experience, we will walk the trails at the Billy Johnson Mountain Lakes Nature Preserve in Princeton and listen and look for Eastern Screech Owls, learning much more about them along the way. 7/29 – Wine on the Waterfront, Washington Crossing Historic Park, 7pm., Enjoy live jazz music by the Hailey Brinnel Quartet while sampling wines from a number of Pennsylvania and New Jersey wineries.
