In an extended celebration of National CSA week, NOFA-NJ and Jammin' Crepes are pleased to announce that every month on the Second Thursday evening from April through September, we will offer an introduction to an NJ Organic Farm & its farmers, learn about their Community Supported Agriculture Program, and cook from their Farm Share. The cooking class will be taught by Kim Rizk, NOFA-NJ Treasurer and Board Member and a co-owner of Jammin Crepes, a Princeton restaurant that is a celebration of our local, regional farms wrapped in a crêpe. nofanj.z2systems.com/...event=4686

Summer Employment Opportunities for Princeton Youth Available Through Princeton Human Services - Princeton Human Services is opening up the application process for their annual Summer Youth Employment Program. This program has been a gateway for youth into the adult world of work and has provided numerous working opportunities to youth in Princeton. Participants must live in Princeton, must be between the ages of 14 -18 as of July 5th, 2021, and their family income must not exceed 400% of the 2020 US federal poverty level. Participants work 25 hours a week and earn minimum wage ($11.10/hr) for 8 weeks during the summer. Applications are available at the Princeton Human Services office in Monument Hall. Applications can also be downloaded online at nj-princeton.civicplus.com/755/Summer-Youth-Employment-Program. The application deadline is Friday, April 30, 2021.

Cooking with CASA – April 29 – Ian Knauer
Our popular Cooking With CASA virtual series continues on Thursday, April 29 at 6:00 p.m. with Chef Ian Knauer of The Farm Cooking School.Chef Knauer honed his cooking skills in the world-renowned test kitchens of Gourmet magazine for almost a decade before returning to his family's Pennsylvania farm, where he wrote The Farm: Rustic Recipes for a Year of Incredible Food, and a television series, The Farm, on PBS and Amazon Prime. Chef Knauer will be demonstrating some of his classic recipes, such as fresh whole egg pasta with a Ramp Carbonara sauce. Click here for more information

The Princeton Perks Discount Card is backby popular demand and on sale for a limited time: now through April 30, 2021. Since its launch in February, the roster of local businesses who have joined the discount card program has nearly doubled to more than 70 retailers and restaurants. The program, which was started as a fundraiser for Princeton’s public elementary schools, has also expanded to include partners at Princeton Unified Middle School, Princeton High School, and Princeton Charter School, who will now sell the cards alongside the original organizers. The Princeton Perks card costs $25 and gives cardholders special deals from participating retailers and restaurants through December 31, 2021. Anyone may purchase a Princeton Perks card by visiting www.princetonperks.com and then selecting any school’s sales portal.

2021 Ellarslie Open juried art show announce the show's Call for Art and invite artists to submit artwork through April 30 via an online entry system. In acknowledgment of its cancelled year and its return. Dr. William R. Valerio, Director of Philadelphia's Woodmere Art Museum, will jury the 2021 show. Artists may submit up to six entries across a variety of categories through April 30. Through the online entry system artists can submit digital images of artwork in most media (not film or video). Submissions are limited to six works, with a maximum of two from any of the 10 primary judging categories, as outlined at www.ellarslie.org/...2021-call-for-art.

Every second Thursday of the month, Tony Kennette will introduce you to another NJ Organic farm, and Kim Rizk of Jammin’ Crepes will cook from the farms CSA box. 4/8 - Libby Copeland: “The Lost Family: How DNA Testing is Upending Who We Are”, Princeton Public Library, 7:00pm., Journalist Libby Copeland explores the extraordinary cultural phenomenon of home DNA testing, drawing on her years of research for "The Lost Family: How DNA Testing is Upending Who We Are."
Copeland discusses how, with more than 37 million people tested, virtually all Americans are affected by DNA testing in some way, and millions have been impacted by significant revelations in their immediate families. It’s about hitting the wall and having to make a choice, or take a stand, or turn around and go back.” With a rousing score that blends elements of pop, gospel and jazz, featuring tight harmonies and darling vocals, Songs for a New World transports its audience from the deck of a spanish sailing ship bound for a new land, to the ledge of a New York penthouse. 4/10 – Spring Beekeeping & Gardening, Howell Farm., 10-4pm., Expert beekeeper Bob Hughes will open the hives before your very eyes...to check the health of the residents and see how each colony fared through the winter. 4/10 –Bike Drive - Mercer Parks, 12-4pm., Do you have a bike that you no longer use? Maybe you have one that your child has outgrown? Mercer County and the Park Commission are hosting a Bike Drive at several locations throughout the county. 4/14 - WWAC's Online Lunchtime Gallery Series, 1-2pm., WWAC presents an exciting and engaging online series. Each session is led by a Princeton University Art Museum Docent showcasing works from the Museum’s outstanding collections. “What do objects tell us about the Culture of Mesoamerica?” This session will be led by Sandy Kurinsky. She became a docent after retiring from a 25 year career in business. In a prior life, she was a preschool teacher. 4/15 – Virtual Walk in the Woods, Sourland Conservancy, 7pm., Join Jim Amon on a "virtual walk in the woods". Mr. Amon will share photos and stories from his book, Seeing the Sourlands. Seeing the Sourlands is brimming with gorgeous photography and rich stories, the book illustrates how we can all learn - and draw inspiration - from the simple things we find on the trail and in our own backyards. 4/15 – Who Lies Where? Documenting and Mapping Historic Cemeteries, 7pm., Pennington Public Library - Have you ever had trouble navigating a cemetery to the graveside of a loved one?
