Pride in Context, How to be a LGBTQIA+ Ally, PSRC
Many of us have LGBTQIA+ children, grandchildren, neighbors, and friends, and desire to be a better ally and show love and support in a way that is meaningful and appropriate. At the conclusion of this workshop, you will increase your knowledge of LGBTQIA+ PRIDE, examine American history of LGBTQIA+ PRIDE and its relationship to oppression and advocacy, and explore ways to support LGBTQIA+ people as a straight or cis-gender ally. Brent Satterly, MSS, PhD, LCSW, received his masters of social service from Bryn Mawr College School of Social Work and Social Research in 1995 and his doctorate in human sexuality education from the University of Pennsylvania in 2004. With over twenty-five years of clinical and educational experience as a Pennsylvania licensed clinical social worker, he is a full professor of social work at Widener University’s Center for Social Work Education. He teaches family therapy, human sexuality, and education courses in the BSW, MSW, and PhD Programs.
