Hopewell Senior Services September Events

Artists' Choice Art Show 
Thursday, September 5, 3:30pm-5:30pm, Mercer County Library, 245 Pennington Titusville Road, Pennington. Join us for the opening of the Artists' Choice Art Show at the Mercer County Library-Hopewell.  Tour the beautiful art painted by our Hopewell Valley senior art group while enjoying refreshments provided by our sponsor  Brandywine Living at Pennington.

Plan Retirement Together (2 Opportunities!)  
Brown Bag Luncheon:  Friday, September 6, 1:00pm at Pennington Presbyterian Church, 13 S. Main Street, Pennington.  12:30 lunch and 1:00 presentation. Bring your own sandwich; a light dessert and beverages will be provided. Please direct any questions to the church office, 609-737-1221.Baby Boomer Series:  Tuesday, September 24, 6:30pm at Pennington Public Library, 30 N. Main Street, Pennington.  Register by calling Leslie, 609-737-3753. Everyone in the community is invited. Pennington resident Jack Tatar will present "Adult Children and Their Parents Plan Retirement Together." Jack is a renowned author of many books, including "Safe 4 Retirement: The Four Keys to a Safe Retirement" and "Having the Talk: The Four Keys to Your Parents' Safe Retirement.".

Senior Picnic 
Thursday, September 12, 12:00pm-3:00pm at Washington Crossing State Park, Sullivan's Grove, 355 Washington Crossing Pennington Road, Titusville, NJ. Join us and fellow senior residents for an afternoon of fun, food and music brought to you by Hopewell Valley Senior Services and Hopewell Township Recreation Dept. Seniors ages 60 and over from throughout Hopewell Valley are encouraged to be part of this important community tradition.  Registration is required, please call 609-737-3753 by 09/04.

GrandPals Meeting
Tuesday, September 17, 10:00 am, Hopewell Township Building, 201 Washington Crossing Pennington Road, Titusville. We are looking for volunteers for this rewarding program.  Our volunteers will read to groups of students weekly at Bear Tavern Elementary School.  Please contact Randi Knechel, (609) 537-0236 for more information or if you are interested in volunteering for the program.

Healthy Living for Your Brain & Body: Tips for Optimizing Physical & Cognitive Health 
Wednesday, September 18,  10:00am, HV Senior Center, 395 Reading Street, Pennington.  This workshop will cover: Research in the areas of diet and nutrition, exercise, cognitive activity and social engagement.  Hands-on tools to incorporate these recommendations into a plan for healthy aging-at any age! This workshop is presented by Alzheimer's Association.

Better Living through Better Hearing  
Wednesday, September 18, 6:00pm at the Hopewell Township Municipal Building, 201 Washington Crossing Pennington Road, Titusville.  If you are living with hearing loss, Capital Health's Audiology Department provides diagnostic and treatment services for adults and children (ages newborn and older) to help you better manage your hearing, make the best use of your hearing aids, explore hearing assistive technology that might help, manage conversations, and take charge of your communication. Join us as SUSAN DONDES from our Audiology Department teaches about hearing loss and the different types of hearing aids that can benefit you or your loved one. Hopewell Township Flu Clinic
Tuesday, September 24, 2:00pm-7:00pm at the Hopewell Township Municipal Building, Auditorium 201 Washington Crossing Pennington Road, Titusville. Open to Valley are residents ages 12 and above.  Please bring your medicare, insurance and/ or prescription card with you. No appointment necessary.  Available while you wait: Perritt Labs, a leader in the package testing industry for over 40 years, will be here asking adult volunteers aged   50 – 70 to open & close child resistant containers using the Consumer Product Safety Commission guidelines. 

Vertigo 
Wednesday, September 25, 10:00am, HV Senior Center, 395 Reading Street, Pennington.  Capital Health Physical Therapy Supervisor Bernadette Stasny will discuss with us the Causes, Evaluation and Treatment of Vertigo!
