Birding Field Trip, Washington Crossing Audubon Society

Join Washington Crossing Audubon Society at 8 AM on Saturday June 11 for a free, guided birding trip led by John Maret at Assunpink Wildlife Management Area. We will look for resident breeding birds, such as blue grosbeaks, indigo buntings, orchard orioles and cedar waxwings, and butterflies as well. Trail Stewards Work Day, Washington Crossing State Park NJ

At our next WCPA Trail Stewards Work Day on Saturday, June 11th, we will continue to improve the drainage and treads on the Continental Lane. We will also continue to line the trail with downed-trees, move branches to the road-side for chipping by the maintenance crew, and remove invasive species!

Please bring (a pair of loppers and bow saw, if you have them) a water bottle, snack, and work gloves!

New-comers please arrive at 8:30 AM at the Nature Center to fill out the state's volunteer application form. Returning Trail Stewards should arrive at the Nature Center by 8:45 AM to sign in.

Horseshoe Bend East Preserve Tour, Hunterdon Land Trust

Hunterdon Land Trust invites you to take a guided tour of the Horseshoe Bend East Preserve in Kingwood Township and discover its intriguing history, while enjoying its woodlands and the picturesque Copper Creek. Explore a slice of this preserve's natural beauty, which is part of approximately 800 acres of protected land near the Delaware River. You'll learn about native plants, wildlife and this area's vital waterways. The program also will cover the property's history, including the years spent there by journalist William Lindsay White and the adopted daughter he brought home after covering The Battle of Britain for CBS.

HLT Land Steward Emily Dunn and Outreach Director Dave Harding will lead the program. The program is free, but space is limited. Please reserve your spot by emailing dave@hunterdonlandtrust.org.


West Windsor Community Farmers' Market

It’s all about local food and seasonality at the West Windsor Farmers Market! This year’s season kicks off on May 7th and running every Saturday from 9:00am-1:00pm, the market will be filled with local farmers and artisan food producers, including a knife sharpener, all from within fifty miles of West Windsor to celebrate the bounty of New Jersey. This season’s roster includes nearly fifty farms and vendors, several with a rotating schedule, including a baker under the new NJ Cottage Rule.

Butterfly House Opening, The Watershed Institute

Celebrate the beauty of spring at the 31st annual Garden Tour on Saturday, June 11th from 12pm-5pm! Residents of Trenton’s Historic Mill Hill Neighborhood will open their unique gardens, big and small, to any and all visitors, garden lovers, and architecture buffs. About 15 gardens and public spaces will be open. Come take a look behind the house facades to see the private sanctuaries and public spaces of the neighborhood, including several gardens that are new this year!

Tickets are available online for the top of every hour, or purchase tickets day-of at Artworks. Children under 12 can attend for free. Join a guided walking tour of the campus collections with an Art Museum docent and discover a variety of artworks by modern and contemporary sculptors, from Henry Moore to Louise Nevelson.
